Originally created to distribute its own games, Steam has since expanded to become the de facto standard for digital distribution of PC games, and supports community features, downloadable content and achievements. Starting 2010, Steam now offers Mac games as well.

Um...there's been other mods distributed through Steam.

Yeah I wasn`t really thinking there, what about gary`s mod and theres others.

I just played the HL2 campaign coop on Synergy with my little brother a couple days ago. Pretty awesome, although there are those annoying loading times every 5-10 minutes where you have to re-connect to the server.

This is going to be the first mod to be officially supported by Steam through the use of the Steamworks SDK and be free.

Garry's Mod, and then the 500 other HL2 mods like CS.

There's heaps of mods available through Steam.

From my experience though, Synergy doesn't work too well.

UNDERSTAND, PEOPLE:
this will be properly distributed through steamworks with updating and stuff, and not having to dl a seperate exe. Distributed in the same way as AudioSurf.
