Well, it looks like Greenlight is finally up and running; so far, it looks like there's a bunch of good games there waiting to get Steamed...there's also McPixel...if that's your kind of thing.

Anyway, if you come across anything that looks especially good/interesting post it here - or perhaps plug your own Greenlightable game, maybe.

Personally, I'd recommend Ichi - it's a nice and simple podcast-friendly puzzle game.

Forge looks really cool to me. I think greenlight is cool, but man, some people commenting on these games are fucking dicks.

#3 Edited by dcgc (878 posts) -

I've already seen some fakes. Man, these people...

I saw one guy posting a java text game... like for real? I do that for class.

Please vote up project zomboid! it's not just another zombie game, really great mechanics. It's real survival rather than generic zombie shooting.

#5 Posted by BeachThunder (11866 posts) -

Naturally, there's also a bunch of hot garbage; I'd really love to see a Quick Look featuring a random selection of these games (similar to the XBLIG Quick Look)

Is this real life?

Is this real life?

Is this a fantasy?

This will be a interesting experiment for sure.

Gunman Clive looks neat.

Just voted for it; I'm really loving the style.

#9 Posted by Seedofpower (3928 posts) -

I've upvote some games but it keeps saying its at 0%. Also at the moment it seems like a lot of mobile game ports or at least the games I looked at. I hope Valve will not have the same problem apple does and we can easy sort through the shit of the shit for the good stuff.

#10 Posted by Maginnovision (487 posts) -

I think the reason you see a lot of junk is because a lot of junk is submitted, you're just now aware of it. My only real question is about how to get rid of 1/3 my store page being about me doing their job for them.

#11 Posted by FreakAche (2953 posts) -

I give it a week before it's filled with Minecraft clones and bad zombie games.

How about a bad Mineraft/zombie/FPS game???

#13 Posted by mosdl (3228 posts) -

Forge is a on kickstarter btw, not doing well with 8 days left

#14 Posted by 49th (2735 posts) -

Are you guys voting on every submission? I don't want to play some of the games but I also don't mind if they get onto steam...

I'm not sure if I should be down voting games I don't care about or just ignoring them?

#15 Posted by Maginnovision (487 posts) -

@49th: I'd think if it looks bad you downvote it. That's how it's supposed to work right? If you check a game out you should probably go one way or the other.

#16 Posted by Totoni (41 posts) -

@Seedofpower: I think that's because the games need more than a hundred up votes. But considering that it has been out for some time now I'm actually surprised it hasn't moved. Seems like they need a lot of votes before they can pass.

Surprisingly, this zombie game does look cool.

Yeah, I it all might still be in some testing phase.

I agree, would love to see this get on Steam with full Steamworks in the mix. Great game, just needs a bigger platform to go forwards.

#22 Edited by beepmachine (618 posts) -

@mosdl: Yeah, it's not gonna make it. I really think that game looks cool, I'm bummed.

One thing that annoys me is that the order of the games keeps changing, so if I'm on page 3, and click on a game, and then return to page 3, all the games are different. Makes it really hard to see everything.

#23 Posted by ArbitraryWater (11652 posts) -

It's nice to see that, yes, most of what is presented appears to be hot garbage. On the other hand, they have stuff like Frayed Knights, which earns my support for being a lot like Wizardry 8.

So are the ratings not calculated right now?

#26 Posted by Spuirrel (85 posts) -

If this is all the shite that had to be waded through then it's not surprising that some good games get overlooked by the selection team.

I think it just takes a lot of votes to reach 1%. Project Giana is at 3%. That's the highest I've seen.

#28 Posted by DumlaoX (21 posts) -

I'm not even sure how things are calculated anymore. Forge, for example, had 1% about an hour ago and now it's at 0. I'm just hoping it all gets sorted out soon since the number of trolling submissions and game requests there is starting to get ridiculous.

As for highest ratings, highest one I've seen is Project Zomboid at 4%.

I'm assuming that they're asking for ~100,000 votes for each game then, judging my the amount of favourites Giana has...

i'm surprised Contrast even needs to be greenlighted.

Is Ichi really on this thing? It's a bloody mobile phone game.

#32 Posted by Butano (1731 posts) -

Guys, they have Wizardry 8 on that list. Greenlight the shit outta that game!

#33 Posted by DumlaoX (21 posts) -

- If that's the original developers or publishers putting it on there, then yes. There's been a rash of people using it as a place to out up troll games or as a request board so it's becoming a bit difficult to tell who's legit or not.

#34 Posted by AssInAss (2621 posts) -

While I've up-voted Basketbelle (sweet sibling/family story told through basketball, played it already), Receiver (awesome FPS part of 7-day challenge), Kairo (Myst-like adventure), Cognition (female protag adventure game thriller written by Jane Jensen), The Intruder (FP horror adventure), Enola (FP horror adventure), Dream (Dear Esther in your mind!), and Gunman Clive (just for having the funniest trailer), I find one game goes to the very top of "I WANT THIS GAME NOW".

Miasmata

JUST WATCH THE VIDEO AND BE MESMERIZED!

Miasmata is like a dream come true! First Person survival adventure game on an island and you're a plague-stricken scientist who needs to find a cure. Think if Far Cry wasn't a shooter. Day/night cycle, go find herbs and shit. Has some survival horror elements too with some cat creature that will try to kill you from time to time.

Could this mean the end of Simulator games on Steam? We've always joked about those, but... I don't know.

@Oginam: Lookup "Gnomoria," same thing.

If there are any pro wrestling video game fans out there - especially those who really liked AKI's N64 games - you should take a look at Pro Wrestling X:

I've seen a few things that I think are worth mentioning.

Brand seems like it could be a pretty neat game, depending on how the branching path upgrade system ends up panning out. Animations look a little off/slow for some things and combat might get a little same-y potentially, but it seems neat.

TowerClimb. Think Spelunky but slower paced, more punishing for mistakes, and a lot more atmospheric. I've actually bought the beta release of the game a few months ago and I think it's a really fun game.

Towns is a game where you build a town on top of a dungeon and need to stop monsters from coming out of it or something or other. I've got no idea how this one could turn out. It seems like it could be a fun little thing but if its too hard to defend, too easy to defend, or just building the town itself isn't any fun, the whole premise of it falls apart.

Cardinal Quest 2. It seems to aim to fix a lot of the issues I had with the first game, the main one of the being that all the classes felt really similar and the most difference that I really got out of them was just how much I spammed fireball on the first few floors. Has more classes, a tech tree to distinguish the classes even more. It has potential to be pretty cool, at the least. If you're into casual roguelikes at anyrate.

#39 Posted by Butano (1731 posts) -

@DumlaoX: Seriously? I thought there was some sort of verification process where you have to be approved by Valve to be on the Greenlight list. If not, then that's pretty lame. It's basically ModDB at that point where you can post anything and say you're working on X mod/game and not do anything with it.

#40 Posted by ThunderSlash (1695 posts) -

So far I've rated La Mulana. It's weird how a game like this would be rejected by Valve tons of times.

#41 Posted by ThunderSlash (1695 posts) -

@Butano: Yeah, I already saw some high profile games were clearly not put up by their respective owners.

Yeah those already got blocked, but already reported two more copies of Halo on there... I also reported "Helen Keller: The Game. The asshole posted a black picture and had a video that just displayed nothing... It's gone now. They seem to respond super fast to reports which is good.

#43 Posted by beepmachine (618 posts) -

I nabbed this before it got removed:

Here's some games y'all should check out:

Orbitor - wasn't sure about this until I watched the vid, then I was real sure

Contrast - animations look a bit off to me, but the idea is cool

Syder Arcade - really impressive visuals

Hoodwink - I don't play adventure games but the trailer made me laugh, I think it's got potential

#44 Edited by SgtSphynx (1367 posts) -

I'm recommending Chester again. Platformer with multiple visual styles that you can change on the fly, quite a fun game.

#45 Posted by LordAndrew (14426 posts) -

Project Zomboid has reached 10%. It's slow going, but it looks like it will be Greenlight's first published title.

#46 Posted by CornBREDX (5133 posts) -
#47 Posted by LordAndrew (14426 posts) -

Oh, Slender: Source is at 11%. Because Slenderman.

Been waiting for Contrast for a while since I made the wiki for it, the Greenlight video looks tight!

It looks like a more interesting version of Lost in Shadow. It does look cool.

Hopefully it doesn't wear out its welcome halfway through the game like Lost in Shadow did.

Already voted for all three of those.
