Need I say more? Well, okay, how about this:
Steam

A digital distribution service owned by Valve Corporation. Originally created to distribute Valve's own games, Steam has since become the de facto standard for digital distribution of PC games.
Uh Oh, Steam’s Annual Summer Sale Has Begun
First day in and I already want to spend $25 on a single game. I don't think I'm gonna make it through the sale...

DayZ is going stand-alone and will require yet another separate purchase. So fuck that game.Indeed. It feels like it's worse than ever!! WHAT DO I BUY!!? My dad has been on my shoulder wanting to play Day'z so I have to buy another copy of Arrowhead and jury rig that to the free Arma2 version.

The Steam sales, while great in terms of me being able to purchase games that I would have bought full price when they originally came out were it not for the (now pretty obligatory) sale down the line letting me purchase them nice and cheap, always rub me the wrong way when Steam itself suffers because of them. It's not as though they couldn't have predicted this, right?
Also, it's worse when you find yourself trying to download a game you bought several months (or even years) ago because of a random craving only to find the speed of download is abysmal. Hard to take when you're not even benefiting from the sale at that stage, but you are being punished.
The negative tone of this comment probably gives you an indication of whether this is happening to me right now or not. It isn't the first time, and it won't be the last. Not quite as bad as the winter sale's impact on speed at this point, but I'm sure it'll get there.
Fucking seriously, first world problems much? It's been going on for like 3 hours. Go read a goddamn book.
Had to be this week. The week when I HAVE NO FUCKING MONEY!!! AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yup, and it is going to be amazing. However as already done on steam. Discounts for previous owners and such. With Cities Xl I could buy Cities XL 2012 for £10 instead of £30 since i own the last cities....no going to. But could. So hopefully a smiler deal is worked out for All Arma CO owners. Id still buy it either way.
However your anger is fully justified...i am just too far down the rabbit hole to climb out.

That is way too high. You're playing the game wrong. You want to go in on the huge packages that have, like, 319837421 games in them - preferable when you only care about two or three of them - and buy them for a few bucks!

No achievement scavenger hunt for prizes? Weak.
They've only done that with Christmas sales. The main hook for the other sales is giving games to friends for the Thanksgiving sale and the Summer sale has never really had a unique hook until now with the "new sale every 8 hours, vote on what it'll be".
edit: wait no they totally had in-game prizes last year. Yeah I kinda miss that.

Weak??? YOU GET TO PAY LESS THAN HALF PRICE FOR GAMES!!!!! Fucking spoiled-ass generation.
Oh how fun, I can spend less for games I didn't want before. Most of the incentive for me was the sale-based achievements to get me to buy new games I may have overlooked otherwise and replay old ones for the fun of the achievement hunt and the prizes they'd give away. Right now I just see a list of games on sale and think "Hey those games are cheaper. I still don't want them."
I feel like they started the sale at the perfect time. There are basically no worthwhile games coming for, at least, a few weeks. This makes gamer deprivation pretty high and if most people are anything like me, I will buy a game that I would not normally purchase just to fill the void.

Last year they did summer camp where you got gold tickets for getting achievements you could trade for summer based game DLC, it was fun!

I always wonder about these. Did you have money last week, and will you have money next week? If you had money last week and the steam sale would've been then, would you have less than no f* money right now?
I know saving is a lot art and all, with "everyone" being into debt pretty much from the early teens, but it's not that we didn't know a steam sale was coming soon. Most rumours actually said it would be the 12th.
Yeah that crossed my mind, but the way BI handled the A2 to OA bait and switch makes me doubt their competence in that area. One would expect that if they were willing to offer a loyalty discount that they would have done so for people looking to buy OA who already own A2standalone. I hope I'm wrong and they offer loyalty discounts on steam for people who own OA and CO even though they probably couldn't make the same offer through their own webstore (without making DayZstandalone a full-on Steamworks game). A2standalone users would probably have to pay full price regardless. However as already done on steam. Discounts for previous owners and such.
