Uh Oh, Steam’s Annual Summer Sale Has Begun

The Steam sales, while great in terms of me being able to purchase games that I would have bought full price when they originally came out were it not for the (now pretty obligatory) sale down the line letting me purchase them nice and cheap, always rub me the wrong way when Steam itself suffers because of them. It's not as though they couldn't have predicted this, right?
Also, it's worse when you find yourself trying to download a game you bought several months (or even years) ago because of a random craving only to find the speed of download is abysmal. Hard to take when you're not even benefiting from the sale at that stage, but you are being punished.
The negative tone of this comment probably gives you an indication of whether this is happening to me right now or not. It isn't the first time, and it won't be the last. Not quite as bad as the winter sale's impact on speed at this point, but I'm sure it'll get there.
Fucking seriously, first world problems much? It's been going on for like 3 hours. Go read a goddamn book.
Seriously. What the hell is wrong with that guy
I can't wait to hear about Vinny's Steam Sale shenanigans on the next Bombcast. It's always a delight.
PEOPLE OF THE INTERNET HEED MY WORDS
go check out Amazon's sales too. some of the deals are way under cutting steam.
Sniper Elite 34.99 on Steam
Sniper Elite 14.99 on amazon. and yes the game is redeemable on steam.

First day in and I already want to spend $25 on a single game. I don't think I'm gonna make it through the sale...
That is way too high. You're playing the game wrong. You want to go in on the huge packages that have, like, 319837421 games in them - preferable when you only care about two or three of them - and buy them for a few bucks!
Like split it among people? I didn't think of that. Sadly I don't know anyone who buys Steam games interested in the SEGA pack and who I also trust with these kind of things. Oh well...

Well...in his defense... Some of those flash deals could be over before I am finally able to actually buy something. Which is probably not something Valve wants to happen. I was ready to do some ill-considered impulse purchases, but because I haven't been able to actually stay logged in for longer than 1 minute, my senses might actually come back to me before pulling the trigger on those. Again, not good for Valve.

Oh, I was just joking around. I don't think you can usually gift the games that come in packages like that. There are some crazy sales though. What did you pick up at $25, out of curiosity?

SECONDED - I'm sure Steam will have some cool packages but Amazon kinda blew some of these prices out of the water. Worth taking a look.
I got Binary Domain steam activated and everything for $9.99
Other than Grimrock, today's sale didn't really interest. That really makes me happy because I want to be able to get the big ones I've been waiting for without impulsively "saving."
Luckily I already own almost all of today's specials. Only picked up some new Crusader Kings II DLC.
Why am I so ecstatic to be spending money?

Had to be this week. The week when I HAVE NO FUCKING MONEY!!! AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I always wonder about these. Did you have money last week, and will you have money next week? If you had money last week and the steam sale would've been then, would you have less than no f* money right now?
I know saving is a lot art and all, with "everyone" being into debt pretty much from the early teens, but it's not that we didn't know a steam sale was coming soon. Most rumours actually said it would be the 12th.
I'm on holiday from work, I wasn't paid last week and I won't get paid this week. The money I do have has to go towards keeping myself fed and get me to work next week.
It was $17 like a month ago.Really hoping Saints Row wins this first community spotlight thing, been waiting for a great sale on that game since last year.

I didn't buy it yet but I'm eyeing Might & Magic Heroes VI. I remember something like a TNT of it one time and it looked pretty cool.
Edit: Oh and I just realized that's part of the Ubisoft package not SEGA.
Steam being kind of dickish and keeps dropping my cart.
Eventually managed to buy the new extended Hard Resest for next to nothing and a full Anno pack plus some Orcs must die DLC. As with any Steam sale the biggest issue is either already owning most games on sale and not caring about the rest.
