A digital distribution service owned by Valve Corporation. Originally created to distribute Valve's own games, Steam has since become the de facto standard for digital distribution of PC games.
-sad face- Would have bought this day one, being able to play a bunch of my steam games and not have to worry about chasing the "perfect" PC build would of been priceless.
I feel like Valve putting out a console would just cause another separation between PC gamers and console gamers, plus Valve might need to put a small handicap on people with high-spec PCs in order to balance Steam.
Valve's way too intelligent for such at thing. To create a console that they could conceivably make no money off of (since the rumors were stating compatibility with non-Steam services), where 3rd parties are under no obligation to follow tech guidelines, would have been a disaster. Just wouldn't be a smart thing for them. They're making money hand-over-fist on the PC, so why risk killing the golden goose by retrying the 3DO plan?
Also, anyone who ever thought this had a possibly of happening is an idiot.
I really like the second portion of this series of statements. A man (presumably due to the name) who cannot form a coherent sentence is throwing stones. Moreover, the fact that he believes so strongly that Valve will not dabble in the console industry is hilarious to me. You make me laugh, John.
