Well two year old Thread, it looks like Half Life 2: Deathmatch was my first purchase.

The Orange Box was the initial thing that made me create an account.

Team Fortress 2 was half-off (I think it was $10 instead of its usual $20) and I wanted to get it for PC, instead of just playing the kind-of-awful PS3 version, so I made a Steam account and bought it.

There was a massive weekend discount on Arkham games, and I bought Arkham City.

Pretty sure mine was HL2 as well, though within the Orange Box.

Now THAT was one heck of a deal at the time. HL2, HL2 episodes 1 and 2, Portal, and (most importantly for me at the time), TF2.

First game downloaded through Steam? Portal when it was free.

First game Bought? Darksiders.

That would be Bioshock, on Nov 26, 2007. Anything in my Steam library prior to that was a retail game that came with a Steam key.

After registering my HL2:CE and a couple retail CD keys, my first steam store purchase was a Mafia 2 pre order. After that was a ton of Just Cause 2 and a ton of DLC packs for it.

I believe I registered my HL:Blue Shift key during beta, I think it bugged or something as I got every single retail HL1 product available at the time (and still have them).

I purchased HL2 on release like most people, was probably that.

Puzzle agent. Now I'm gonna go replay puzzle agent because I love that damn game.

My first registered game on Steam is The Orange Box which I bought from a store. But my first game bought from Steam itself is Mass Effect.

You can check your Steam transaction history by clicking on [INSERTUSERNAME]'s account and then account details. It should show every transaction on Steam you've ever had. Hope it helps if you don't remember.

Left 4 Dead when it came out, now I'm at 301 games 5 years later.

Half life 2, I had to buy it there cuz nowhere had a retail copy for weeks.

The Orange box. One of the best Christmas gifts I've ever been given.

EDIT: that was just the CD key you get with the retail copy though. Got that in 2008 for XMAS. In 2010 I got the valve complete pack (which had every valve game except for portal 2, CSGO, and DOTA2). I also got Mass Effect 1+2 and super meat boy on steam during that XMAS. It was pretty sweet!

Dark Souls II. Then I cancelled it. Then I bought it again. Then I cancelled it again. The first game I bought and kept was RE4.

First game was obviously Counter-Strike 1.6. But purchase again, Half Life 2. After that... I don't think I bought a steam game until Team Fortress 2 and the Orange Box.

Garry's Mod and CS:S package. Bought it for Gmod, but CS:S later turned out to be the gateway drug into a life of gaming. Oh, the innocence!

Torchlight, although I had Valve stuff like HL, HL2, CS and TFC registered to my account before that.

Half-Life 2: Episode 2. I think I got Portal for free at that time as well.

Garry's Mod, which might still be the best purschace I've made on Steam.

Crowbar Simulator (a.k.a HL2)

I think it was the Doom collection on sale, followed by a cheap copy of GTA Vice City.

I got into PC gaming somewhat late mostly because I didn't get a gaming rig until summer of 2010. Says my first game was Team Fortress 2 though.

Super Meat Boy for $7.49 which I thought was a great discount in 2011. I've barely put an hour into that game :(

My third purchase was Borderlands GOTY and put 84 hours into it on a laptop that really had no business running it, so those early purchases evened out.

The Orange Box is my first purchase.

I made a Steam account so I could buy Guild Wars for my little brother.

The first game I bought using steam was F.E.A.R.. I remembered enjoying the demo when I played it a few years prior, and I wanted a game that was actually scary (It did have its moments, but it turned out to be nothing special in that regard). I think I didn't wait for a sale either, which was pretty dumb.

Bought on steam, CS:S but I do have physical copies of TF2 and DOD:S.

Counter-Strike: Zero.

hl2, cuz I downloaded steam day 1 for that game day 1, so that and cs source since it came with it. But fuck cs source.

So the first set of game(s) I actually had on Steam was the Half-Life Platinum Edition. It had HL, CS, TF as well as Opposing Force and Blue Shift. When I entered one of the keys it knew I had the rest. I think it may have thought you had the same set.

The first game I bought on the Steam store proper was Left 4 Dead.

The very first Steam game I ever bought was Half-Life 1 Anthology.

Counter Strike: Source and Half Life 2 for me. Thought it was bullshit that I had to install a client.

Rag Doll Kung Fu. First non-Valve game released on Steam in 2005. Also the first "Indie" game I purchased.

Half-Life 2 is the technical first game I bought through the service, but through a CD key for Blue Shift I was granted access to all of the initial Steam releases of Valve products.

Half-Life 2 Retail Standard

I registered the Half Life 1 Anthology first and then the Orange Box Retails. First Steam Store purchase was Audiosurf.

The first thing I ever registered on Steam was the Half-Life Platntium pack, which if I recall correctly, was Half-Life, Opposing Forces, Blue Shift and Counter Strike.

The first game I actually bought however was Portal.

Only thing I ever installed out of that was CS 1.6 since I had already finished Half-Life on the PS2.
