When finding ranked matches, maybe 1 out of 10 attempts manages to connect to someone.

Anyone having the same problem? Playing on the PS3 here. Open NAT.

That is a shame to hear. You'd think they would sort that out already.

I haven't had those problems same NAT type. I might have to wait like 10 seconds to get in a ranked match but so far things seem pretty good.

There was like an article on SRK or Eventhubs demonizing the PS3 job.

    Hopefully the 360 is okay.

About 10 times in a row when trying ranked games on the 360. Yup, solid product, Capcom.

I don't understand how this is still a problem. It's two people, most consoles games handle sixteen to twenty-four fine.

On the bright side the netcode it's self is amazing. Just play player matches until they patch it.

This is why Jeff waits for online games to go love before reviewing them. Do think sites like ign and joystiq look stupid now for rushing out reviews?

    Shit, I forgot about that.

First time it booted up, I thought, "Really? Fucking GameSpy?"

I remember all the grief I went through to play Borderlands on the PC because of GameSpy. Terrible.

I have been playing player matches, the connection problems and long times between joining games occur exactly the same

The netcode doesn't feel that great to me, I mean a lot of the time frames are being skipped and it has happened against people with green pings :/

...it felt better playing it on GGPO via an emulator I swear.

I have abouslty shit internet, I cannot play SSF4 onlike because it is too laggy. I can plan 3s just fine with zero lag, a little skipping but still really good.

GGPO was horrible IMO. Emulator problems, constant absurd rollbacking, etc. OE is a much better experience.

Also a note to everyone: Open your router ports for your console and put 0 frames for GGPO options.

@ThePhantomnaut: What exactly does changing the GGPO setting to 0 (or making it higher) do?

It increases or decreases input frame lag online. So if you pick 0 frames, you are able to put your inputs as accurate as possible but can create more frame skipping and rollbacks in bad connected games. 8 frames is the max with a more smoother yet delayed experience.

Interesting. What happens if I am set to 0 and you 8?

In theory I guess rollbacks can occur often because the code is trying to adjust to different frame options. I think it might turn into who has the most consistent connection.

For the life of me I can't understand why Capcom fails at this with every release of these games. It's been terrible ever since the Dreamcast and has never gotten better. I understand that a lot of the issues stem from users being impatient and starting and quitting games faster than their stuff can keep up with but for it to chug as much as it does looking for someone, then failing and booting me to a menu just seems like early PC days of matchmaking to the point of absurdity.

If your paitent and don't mind waiting you can find games but it takes time.

Lastly, I don't understand why the matchmaking seems completely different in each release. SF4's method of getting you a game while you play single player was about as good as it got, so why ditch that for this release? Moreover, the party mode is really clunky and doesn't really make any sense when it first starts. After each match is it really necessary to exit the game and go back to a lobby every time?

While I like to demonize Capcom as much as the next guy, I don't think that Capcom deserves the full blame here. Judging by what is said here, I think PSN and XBL might be the main culprit.
