The Idea

So as everyone know SF3 OE has the ability to save your replays to youtube. This is a fantastic feature for people who have had great matches and really want to show off there stuff. So I'm proposing this be a place you can put your videos to get seen by the Giant Bomb community.

Be Warned - the rules

  • I would like this to not get closed for youtube spam. It is vary important that if you do post a video you are REQUIRED to write a blurb or few sentences to allow some context for your video.
  • Also refrain from posting every video you save to your account here, keep it to just keep it to your highlights.
  • Lastly be nice, It takes guts to put your stuff out there so don't be a jerk.

I got to try out 3SOE at my local tea shop which had a PS3 hooked up to an Astro City. Luckily the internet was good enough to run matches online especially this one.

Great idea, i can't wait to see what comes of this.

Let's see how many Ken videos we can get in here.

Well I'm still new to 3rd strike, but this match was a day 1 highlight for me. It would be awesome if you guy's would check it out, and any Sean tips would be appreciated. :)
#6 Posted by TechHits (1365 posts) -
@ThePhantomnaut:  wait, so the coffee shop you go to has an arcade cabinet hooked up with SF3oe. That is so sick.
#7 Posted by Joeyoe31 (820 posts) -

I might as well just post this. It's not a GREAT match. But I think it's still good.  I'm the Akuma if anyone is wondering.

#8 Posted by mubress (1517 posts) -
@TechHits: You hit Ryu out of the air with a basketball, you clearly don't need any tips!

@Joeyoe31: Haven't spent much time with Akuma yet but the best ones I've played have been very aggressive so maybe try and work on that, solid stuff though. Nice super finish :)

Also AE, Marvel 3, and some other PS3 games.

Lol, no question the basket ball is Seans best move.

Too bad the quality for the xbox version is terrible. I'd show a funny match I had but it'd be unwatchable.

You should give it a shot, I find if you put it in wide screen it's not as bad.

Some casual matches between myself, yatesisamazing and jaycee13 aka Worst Q. I'm trying to improve with Urien atm because I like the way he plays but he isn't all that easy to get to grips with.

@TechHits: Great idea! Looking forward to seeing some crazy matches.

If you insist.

Here's a match against a random who didn't seem to realize what he doing was not going to work. If anyone has any Twelve tips lay em' on me.

I'm still getting use to third strike. Not having my links anymore kinda makes me sad but I'm adjusting. I'm practicing the timing of parries in most of my matches so that's why I get hit with a bunch of fireballs in the first round. The stricter inputs are also giving me a little trouble as I missed a couple opportunities for my EXMGB.

#17 Posted by mubress (1517 posts) -
@NinjaHunter: Nice jumping air parry on the wakeup srk, I've tried baiting that myself and I always miss :(
#18 Posted by NinjaHunter (972 posts) -

@mubress: Thanks! I was pretty proud of that myself.

I have been exposed as the worst Alex player on the internets. :(

Love the still image for the video though.

Remember this. Target combos and hit confirms. Check out the Dudley player Kokujin.

rofl, I hadn't noticed that.

I can safely say though that you are hands down the best Alex I have played :)

@ThePhantomnaut: Cool. Thanks for the video.

#23 Posted by Yummylee (21203 posts) -

Loving all these vids. I'm not all well invested in the fighting genre and I mostly watch, though 3rd strike is hands down the most fun to see all of those frames flow. I'd get 3rd strike myself if I wasn't already hiding the upcoming Autumn stash for the fuck load of everything from September - November.

After seeing that I just had to watch the video.

Here's one of my first Ranked matches as Ryu. I know I'm horrible as I'm still getting used to SF3, but I was stoked at the (lucky) comeback at the end.

#26 Posted by TechHits (1365 posts) -
@LiquidSaiyan3: I love the fireball into super fireball taunt.

game against some random dude in a tournament thought id test the feature and upload it

#28 Posted by Joeyoe31 (820 posts) -

I was freaking out near the end of this one.

#29 Posted by TechHits (1365 posts) -

What's up guys, so I had some games against some Giant bomb members todaay. Let me tell you the results where varied. Started off by playing VicRattledHead, and I don't want to talk about it, it's still to soon. Then I had some matches against joeyoe31 and I managed to scratch out a win. I was particularly proud of this one.

On a side note we need to get a Giant bomb SF3 tourny going so see who's the best.
#30 Posted by Joeyoe31 (820 posts) -
@TechHits: I was actually a little bit butthurt when your super beat my EX-hayate.

I also uploaded our last match for the session we had.  I thought I did really well in this match considering I started playing Makoto at 2 AM last night. :P
#31 Posted by mubress (1517 posts) -
@VicRattlehead: Good stuff duder, nice finish!

I love the quality on your capture card, what do you use, and how much was it.

Me vs a Ken. I had to think a lot more during this match because this guy actually knew how to parry. I also jumped a lot, probably because I was panicking but ended up getting lucky at the end.

#34 Posted by OwnlyUzinWonHan (1478 posts) -

I had a match with my friend as Sean and he was using Chun-Li, and in the last round, he landed his SA (The one Daigo parried), but I shot a basketball beforehand, interrupted it right before time ended, and barely won by a tiny margin of health. I then proceeded to turn my 360 like an idiot, and now it's lost forever. Now that I beat Bastion and Outland though, I should be contributing to the Third Strike forum soon so hopefully I'll have some highlights for you ladies and gentlemen.

@TechHits: Hauppauge HD PVR, got it off ebay for £90 a few months ago. Worth it if you have the money.

@NinjaHunter: Good match. How does Dudley in 3rd strike compare to his SFIV iteration? Better/worse?
#36 Edited by VicRattlehead (1398 posts) -

@mubress: i think hes far better than SSF4, once you have meter you can rack up loads of damage quickly and you have a 50/50 on a knockdown which both can lead to super... if you have meter and you have the person in the corner with dudley there pretty much done... last tier list i checked he was beside ken

Some more games between me and J from last night... ive more to upload

#37 Posted by mubress (1517 posts) -
@VicRattlehead: Yeah I thought as much. Nice overhead into super in that last match, do you have more time to hit confirm than in 4?
#38 Posted by kashif1 (1428 posts) -

My first ever win

I'm crap at the game and have never won since
#39 Posted by NinjaHunter (972 posts) -

@mubress: I'm not sure. I feel like they are about the same, just different. Maybe the third strike version is a little better because of how much more meter he can get. Ducking is a little less useful to dodge fireballs with but you can just parry anyways. I mostly just miss my links, it's like they traded his setups into super in third strike for link combos in SFIV which can lead into his ultra 2.

#40 Posted by VicRattlehead (1398 posts) -

@mubress: yeh pretty much have enough time to go make yourself a cup of tea lol

lol, don't hype yourself up to much or anything. Everyone had to learn at some point, don't be so hard on yourself.
#42 Posted by TechHits (1365 posts) -

Ok so I'm kinda stoked about this match, it was my first ever perfect in a online ranked match.

#43 Posted by Sauson (560 posts) -

I'm the red Ken in the video. Pretty obvious that I'm still a scrub but I was pretty pumped that I pulled this off.

#44 Posted by TechHits (1365 posts) -
@xSUFFOKATEx:  I love the ending, vary clutch.
#45 Posted by Sauson (560 posts) -
@TechHits: Thanks duder

I would really love to keep this thread alive. I know that there is a ton of fantastic SF players here on Giant bomb, and I for one genuinely want to see your stuff. To keep things rolling here is a match between myself (Yellow and black Sean) vs another Sean player. This was a first for me as running into  legit  Sean players online is not that common.

Keep posting I love seeing Giant Bomb videos.
#47 Posted by mubress (1517 posts) -

My first win against a Remy player in a Ranked match. That might not sound like much but he is becoming the bane of my 3rd strike life I swear......

#48 Posted by TechHits (1365 posts) -

@mubress: Good match. I have played some vary tricky Remys before, I agree they can be a pain.

Couple replays of me bodying a friend of mine who thinks he's good at fighting games. I sure showed him!
