SORRY GUYS IT'S THE 17TH MY MISTAKE!!!!

Some of you guys have played in the Sep. 1 Thursday Night Throwdown that featured 3rd Strike Online Edition. Are you good enough to win something against others? Come on down and participate in the first in a monthly community tournament series!

When

The tournament will begin on Saturday, September 17th. Ready time will initiate at 10:00 AM and the tournament will begin at 11:00 AM. (Pacific Standard Time, UTC -8:00). If you miss the cutoff time for your match (see below Rules: Connection), you are then automatically forfeiting your match and possibly disqualified later.

Every player in each bracket will be invite requested by the tournament organizer (The Phantomnaut on Xbox 360 and Scarace360 on PlayStation 3).

First place winners as of now will receive a prize courtesy of Vito_Raliffe. They have the choice to pick what's currently available in his Game Giveaway thread or a redeemable code for 1600 Microsoft Points or a $20 off in the PlayStation Network (depending on console winner, US winners for the XBL and PSN codes only). They will be PMed instructions a couple of days afterwards on how to receive their prize.

Currently, there will be no stream but if anybody can, please help assist in recording the matches! I will be talking to Raikanami of FinestKO ASAP to aid me in streaming if possible.

Registration

This tournament will be for both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Everyone above 10 forum posts here are welcome to compete for free. So reply below with your XBL Gamertag or PSN username. The tournament player count is capped at 16 players per console BUT if there is demand, I will increase to 32! No replacement players for absentees sorry!

Sign-ups will end on September 16th at 12:00 AM PST. On the 16th, I will create the bracket on Challonge and everyone of you guys must read to know who are you gonna fight.

Recommended: Open the necessary ports for PSN or XBL if you have a router.

UPDATE (9/13)!!!!

Xbox Live players will be sent a friend request by WMFightClub on September 16 and invites on tournament day will be by me!

For the PSN side, Scarace360 will be sending you guys requests on the same day as well. Stay tuned for more info!

Rules

General

• All characters allowed except Gill.
• Double elimination (winners and losers bracket) with 2/5 rounds in a first to 2/3 matches.
• Matches are in Player Match lobbies with the currently announced players ready to fight. Will invite four players at a time.
• Winners and losers finals in first to 3/5 games.
• Grand finals set to first to 3/5 games (including loser resets).
• Standard character selection.
• If a player loses a match, they can switch character and Super Art.
• NO CHEATING OR GAME BREAKING BUGS

Connection

• If a disconnect occurs, the match must restart but any games won by any player will still be intact.
• If players can't connect to each other after multiple tries or if the match is significantly unplayable (I WILL BE WATCHING), it will be decided with a best to 2 quarter flip.
• During the tournament, you have to be in your match within 5 minutes after being announced to fight next or else you will automatically forfeit that match.

I'll defo be around for 11am PST which is 7pm GMT but not much earlier so don't worry if you don't see me on until then. I can record matches but not stream as my internet isn't good enough for that :(

Yeah I copied pasted the previous tourney thread and made it when I was tired. I will edit some quick fixes and also expand on what to do before the tourney.  Thanks Mubrees. Recording would be great. For the sake of how long it is, recording at 640x360 is fine. Also if you don't come by on the day, I will save the 360 replays and we can record later.

I'll play, but I have to leave around 3 EST so hopefully it'll be over by then.

Slight bad news though, I might have to delay it to September 30 if something does come up this weekend. I am not really sure yet. Even with a possible delay, there can be good things coming out of it that I might consider.

Only just noticed u asked this sry 4 late reply. I'll be using 0 delay as I prefer it but if u prefer more lag and less frame skip then set it higher. If you're not really sure what it does then take a look at this post.

Yeah I hate frame skipping, I was in a match I thought I won but it rewind and I lost

Yeah thank you for the correction. I unfortunately can't modify the bracket unless I redo it. But I will get to it ASAP before tomorrow.

Sad man happens for all of them on giantbomb that i see and what would be a good time for them?

So far we have 3 people online so I'll give it another 20 minutes but then we'll have to start as I can't hang around that long myself. If people don't show then maybe we'll have to do it another time :(

Even though I ended up winning the no shows meant that I only had to play twice whereas M_33 had to play six times which seems very unfair, plus he had controller issues. In the end it was a good tourney though, ggs to everyone who played ;)

Good tournament, sorry for my controller bugging out in the earlier matches. Are we going to have another one on the 30th with hopefully the rest of the peeps who signed up?

No worries dude, not your fault :) Props to Jaycee13 for re-playing the game as well, in theory he could have just taken the win.

I've just realised we only played 2/3 in the grand finals when it should have been 3/5 so really it would be best if we could play again on the 30th. That's up to Phantomnaut though as I'm not sure if I'll be around.

I apologize for not being fully involved due to a last minute situation but I am happy that (at least the 360 version, PS3 version should be good too) it still happened. I am happy for everyone who was able to go. To those who couldn't make it like me and some others, I apologize once again. This pilot entry will be good information to help make future Whiskey Fights better. I will see if I can perform another 3S tourney in the future, if not a Whiskey Fights entry but a general tournament with no prizes.

Mubress, I will talk to Vito about the prize and you should get it at the most before next Friday. On the PS3 end, I will check and update this post.

UPDATE: The PS3 bracket was not updated. I will examine it.

Overall, thank you guys for competing!

Oh yeah, October is coming up... As of now, the next game for the monthly Whiskey Fights in either late October or early November is The King of Fighters XIII. The netcode for XIII will be based on the latest patch code from XII. Some players see a necessary improvement over the original horrible code while others were still encountering the same issues. If the code for XIII is playable enough, it will be the 1st choice game. If not, I will revert back to 3rd Strike once again before the end of Jean... :)

If you want to try doing the tourney on the 30th then I don't mind not having the prize, I was just playing for fun anyway not because there was something to win :)
