So I'm a fairly new rog player, doing ok, been told my links are good, cancelling dash straight into super with ease now and am working on headbutt into ultra. I know the tricks for doing it (headbutt into ultra,) but one thing I'm not sure on is whether I should be using jab, strong or fierce for the headbutt, or if it even matters. Also, why would I want to cancel fierce into focus? it uses two bars of ex and doesn't seem to do that much damage. Any other advice besides certain combos? Thrawn had this to say a while back and it was real helpful

" @Pessh: If you're just starting to play him then I suggest working on footsies. The best way to do that is to concentrate on a normal move and during a match make a mental note of all the times that that move would have been appropriate and try to start implementing what you've learned. Good normal moves for rog are croucing hk (sweep) and crouching hp or standing mp as anti-air for when they jump in on you. Get familiar with exactly how far the sweep reaches and you goal should be to make someone think you're in range of their best pokes, while you're either just out of range or have just enough time to get out of range and then counter with sweep. Then after you sweep them into knockdown you should dance around them forcing them to guess if you're gonna go for a throw or another sweep. once they get scared to play footsies the match should get pretty easy. "

@Pessh: VicRattlhead is a great Balrog player and he's a GBer. He has loads of tricks - a lot of tick throws, clever jump ins, great footsies and strong pressure game. All really useful stuff. I'd hit him up if you want some advice.

There are other Balrog players around here, but I've totally forgotten which characters people play..

@Pessh: That felt like an epically long set. The connection really wasn't too bad, bar the occasional lag spike; I'm at home atm though, so that probably made a big difference.

Focus cancelling fierce is pointless yes, used for showboating I guess.

Practice cr. lp, cr. lk into headbutt then ultra. If you can do that reliably your pretty much set. Concentrate more on zoning. With Boxer this mainly constitutes getting them in the corner.
