I finally got all the parts necessisary for my Madcatz Fightstick TE Mod, so I went ahead and slapped it all together. The video and pictures are below if you just want to get to it, but I'll tell you what I've done to it anyways.

    • I ordered a custom plexi and artwork with the 6 straight button configuration, the artwork which I made myself.
    • I replaced the buttons with custom Sanwa OBSN-30's (threaded) that have a red/black color scheme.
    • I replaced the white balltop with a red one, to match and everything.
    • I added spring tension to the Sanwa JLF joystick by purchasing a Seimitsu LS-33 spring, and putting it inside the stock JLF spring.
    • The plexi and artwork was custom ordered from Art's Hobbies. The buttons/ball/spring were ordered from Lizard Lick.

Dammit!  I need money...  I would have an awesome stick like that if I had money... :(  In the meantime, my SE with soon-to-be-ordered OBSFs will have to do.

No, there is no plexi on the TE, it's just shiny artwork. And even if there was, I don't want those two holes on the left, they needed to be GONE!

Hey, I haven't watched the vid yet (going to) so I'm not sure if these have been addressed, but I'll ask them anyways:

    • Did you get the OBSNs over the OBSFs because of the color scheme, or was there another reason.
    • Does the extra spring make that much of a difference that I should bother getting one myself?  Or is the extra tension it provides better for shoto characters rather than charge characters?

The spring is super cheap (like .98 cents) so it wouldn't hurt in getting one just for the hell of it. I'd say if you're a little wreckless with your stick it will make your inputs less prone to failure, especially for charge characters. The tension differential is pretty noticeable even with just the "medium" mod I did on it. I imagine with the LS-56 spring it would be like a rock. As for the OBSN's, threaded buttons are less hassle to put in and take out, and go in the same every time. The tabs on a snap-in get weaker over time and don't have that same crisp snap after you snap them in only once. My SE has OBSF's on it, and one of the black buttons almost just falls in, doesn't snap at all, and I could probably remove it from the top just by pulling on it.

edit: I should note though that if you use the arched six buttons, that the button closest to the joystick mounting brackets cannot be a threaded button, because there is not enough room for the sanwa nut. a seimitsu nut can be filed down to fit under it since it's thinner, but it'll pose a problem either way. Since I use the straight six, I didn't have to worry about that nonsense.

Oh, God!  That doesn't sound cool at all!  They're pretty much the same in responsiveness than the OBSFs, right?  Hm, I may just have to get OBSNs if it will do the same thing and just be less of a hassle.  And yeah, I'm also going to get the spring since it's so cheap and I guess if I don't like it, I could always just take it off.  Thanks!

Ah, well fuck this!  I'm now forced to stick with the OBSFs. D:

@FluxWaveZ: I edited my post above, but just in case you didn't read it:   I should note though that if you use the arched six buttons, that the button closest to the joystick mounting brackets cannot be a threaded button, because there is not enough room for the sanwa nut. a seimitsu nut can be filed down to fit under it since it's thinner, but it'll pose a problem either way. Yeah I was originally worried about different shades of red maybe not meshing, but it seemed to all work out perfectly.

@FluxWaveZ: It shouldn't be a big deal, it's only because I've taken mine out maybe 3-5 times that they began to act a little strange.

With just a nice subtle pattern as the artwork instead of a giant Cammy Ass (or something like it), I totally agree with your mods you have made. Adding your name on it is also much classier than slapping a sticker (with your name written) on it as well.

Nice stuff man, I have a few questions for you.

Does the plexi not sitting flush bother you at all when playing? Also did you print the art yourself or did you get it with the plexi?

I'm thinking about getting a plexi myself.

I ordered the artwork/plexi together. since it's all laser-cut that seemed to be the best and highest quality option. The plexi isn't even noticeable protruding from the bezel. The plexi itself is only 1/16 of an inch thick.
