The arcade tournament last year was some bullshit filled Microsoft promotional event, much like Shooting Festa is, a means to get Japanese gamers interested in Xbox 360. Sadly, so will this year, it still has heavy Microsoft involvement. "Microsoft X Capcom" is actually in this years event title. The Winner last year won a Xbox 360, and then proceeded to rather comically give it away before leaving the event. This year will be different however, for it will have prizes that competitors will want to hang onto.

The winner will receive a pair of these Capcom gold Street Fighter 4 trophy gloves...

Silver and Bronze winners receive one mini glove...

It beats getting a 360. It's good that Capcom supports EVO in every way it can, but I still wish we had Capcom run arcade events here in the West. Capcom have lost touch with the arcade community in the West. It's too late for SF4 - damn u Emily Anadu!. but if Super ever comes to arcade, I hope they do something glitzy.

It's funny in a sad sort of way that cheap spray painted gloves are a better prize than a 360. Sure in Japan it beats getting a 360, but I'd be happy to take a 360 (better yet, a Japanese one) over those, any day.
