So yeah, made a video about my problems with the SE Madcatz Street Fighter IV Fightstick. Keep in mind that after all of this, I mounted the joystick back in as is, and it works fine. Watch it for the lulz. Best thumbnail ever, btw.

You should return it if it's broken and hope to get another one. They might reserve another one for you if you ask for an exchange.
No real point now, I already ordered good parts. The insides are just fine, it's just the Madcatz hardware.
That shit is fucking shocking. I was getting one TE and one SE, but fuck that after seeing this. There's no way I am getting my one SE now.
Woah, lol. I feel your pain and understand your anger fully though. MadCatz are indeed lame ass fucks!, I was always dubious when they were announced as the makers. I have gained a crap opinion of them since the Dreamcast days.
"No real point now, I already ordered good parts. The insides are just fine, it's just the Madcatz hardware."You reminded me of a mix of the Joker and Jack Sparrow in that video. That's a good combination XD
Damn dude I knew Madcrapz made bad stuff but this is pretty harsh. The question that I have to ask is the EX2 worth importing to play street fighter because I cannot stand playing any fighting game with the Xbox 360 Controller.

Get the Real Arcade Pro EX if you can, but yeah it is worth importing the EX2. There you have reliability and none of the shit you see above. Alternatively the Madcatz official pads ( very Saturn like) are actually pretty good according to those that have used them.
Well, not to cross streams......
But the first thing that crossed my mind was when Ricardo said "We have all bought some and we all been very upset..."
I guess we will continue to buy some and still be very upset.
But, when I initially saw that video my thoughts went directly to the super high end version and of course some crazy nutter reviews it by taking it apart.
Since both you and this guy has taken apart their fights sticks, I wonder if the high end version is really that much better than the civilian version.
Welcome to the club, most stick owners either pay 150 or more for either really expensive sticks or essentially buy all components and some wood to literally build their own.
Part of me felt $70 stick was too good be true, and sadly from your experience confirms it. Oh well at least you can swap out all the components now for the ones you wanted just like your previous post said right?

Nah the TE is sheer quality, that's not in dispute by anyone, it's just these SE that are dodgy.
To be fair, the SE was never designed for customization. People looking to take the cheaper route to quality should consider themselves warned.
I had a chance to get my hands on the TE edition the other day, and it is indeed pretty awesome. But it might as well be known as a sanwa arcade stick. It's just weird, all the inside is presented really well, and everything is as advertised. The only problem is that the cheaper of the sticks has madcatz parts, which pretty much explode when you touch them.
I was seriously losing my mind when I made this video, but I'm sort of over it now. New parts are on the way so it's only a matter of time before the stick actually becomes good.
Not to get too off topic, but dude I have the same Dethklok shirt!!! but thanks for some insight on the stick, deffinantly helps with people on the edge about getting one in the first place.
Umm there is a difference between a kick pedal and a whole entire joy stick not working. If you just paid 70-150 bucks for something that alot of sites and respectable people said were quality, and then see that the shit doesn't work correctly out the box, without you pushing on it to hard with your foot to break it, you better understand people get pissed!
Well I'm sure as fuck not going to open my stick to "upgrade" after seeing this stuff... even with replacements on hand, I'd probably make the whole thing explode. Not good at DIY stuff.
Madcatz has never had a good rep, all the controllers I bought from them might as well went in the garbage.
I had already cancelled my preorder for the TE up here in Vancouver (Canada) after the price inflated from $149.99 to $189.99. I just decided to build my own instead, that way there won't be any "surprises". Though I had already made that decision not to buy, your post probably would have convinced me. Different sticks, I know, but I doubt the TE is put together any better.
Not for nothing, but Markman(designer of the stick) From SRK said that they will still Honor the warrenty EVEN IF YOU DID OPEN IT UP, so you should still call them up. They are aware of this issue at least.
I do agree, Madcatz should still be blamed for making such a shitty first impression, but Markman himself has always been trustworthy. I bought Some converters He recommended on SD tekken, and they work like a dream.
This doesn't bode well for me now if you had problems with it and other people are saying its pretty much garbage since I ordered the exact same one and will be here this week along with SF IV. Hope your replacement parts make the stick fine for your good self and hope you get SF IV (I will gladly pay for it as a gift for you :P).
Thanks for the nice words Darro, But I should be able to get it regardless. That was just me blowing up with anger at that point in time.
I've never had an arcade stick and ordered the SE since the TE wasn't available for pre-order. I ran into the same problem today and also noticed a large number of posts online regarding this issue, including your video. I ordered a Sanwa joystick to replace the faulty one so I guess it's not that big of a loss because I get to learn how to install a stick for the first time.
The stick installation itself will be super easy. You Loosen the flathead on the bottom to take the ball off, remove the four screws for the mounting plate, and of course carefully remove the 5-pin connector. (I say carefully because there's some sweet glue on it that makes you seem like you're going to mess it up) Then basically you do those steps in reverse for the new stick.
Is that a cathode ray tube you have your 360 hooked up to??? And to add insult to injury, it looks like it's mono too.
You don't have to buy a 60 inch beast, but I highly HIGHLY recommend you drop around $250 on a small 19 to 20 inch HDTV. In the mean time you might want to get a VGA cable and hook that sucker up to your PC monitor so you can get some of that HD even if it isn't wide screen. Trust me, your eyes will pop out of your head when you see what you've been missing.
It sucks about your stick tho, I hear a lot of people have been having trouble with them. Hope you can get it working.
this could completely be random chance but it seems like mine only sticks on the dpad setting, on right analog it hasnt stuck yet, again though, could be completely by chance
Get the JLF-TP-8T if you're going to get a sanwa. That has the microswitches built into a circuit board, which means you just plug in the 5 pin connector that is already in place on the fightstick.
As for the HDTV stuff, I already have one upstairs. It's more important to have my stuff hooked up in the basement then to play it in HD, for the purpose of recording footage, and because I spend all my time down there. Also, all HDTV's have lag, which means competitive games like Rock Band and of course Street Fighter are not being played in HD.
