Capcom's Christian Svensson recently discussed the possibility for Bionic Commando and Street Fighter on the Wii. The VP answered a few questions about bringing over some of the big IPs over to the Wii, including Street Fighter 4.

First of all, Bionic Commando: Rearmed for WiiWare wouldn't work due to filesize restraints, so would have to be disc based with everything redone for Wii.

"It would not be an inexpensive process and I'm not sure the result would be completely satisfactory. I think you underestimate how technically advanced BCR is. It's built on the same engine as the big BC is."

Also having filesize issues is the upgraded version of Street Fighter - HD Remix, and although possible via disc release, the company feel it isn't the right content for the retail channel,  favouring digital releases for these types of games.

"[With] Wiiware, we're finding, only works for titles built from the ground up for Wiiware as the lead SKU given the filesize restrictions."

However, it looks like there is hope for SF fans wanting Street Fighter IV on the Wii -

"In theory, with reasonable downgrades in visual quality including resolution reduction, yes".

" I will still raise the question: what's the input mechanism for a Wiimote + nunchuck on a Street Fighter title?"

Would they really attach gesture controls to Hadokens?, if so how would the SF faithful feel about that?

Have your say here, and on the official boards at Capcom

    Thanks to Nintendo Everything.

What's the point if it's getting downgraded visuals... That's essentially the only different thing in Street Fighter 4. Street Fighter 2 would make more sense...

Even if they do it, please don't have the motion controls. Brawl worked better with the GC controls and so should this one if it comes out.

You where not required to use those controls, the game has classic controller support so i just hooked up my hori stick to play it.

Street fighter games are hard to map on a GC controller since they require 6 buttons to play. It is possible though but they'll have to map 4 attacks on the 4 front buttons and the other 2 on the GC shoulder buttons which are pressure sensitive so i doubt it will be easy to use them in a fighter.

Of course if it eventually happens it will have classic controller support which is perfect.

Yeah! And let's make the graphics suck and put in Waggle controls!!!!

Ahh Wii owners, when will you learn that when a game comes out saying it's PS3/360 that you'll get no bite?

And why would you really care otherwise? Are any of you playing World at War Wii?
Unless a game is being shown as the Wii for lead development like Shaun White's Snowboarding you won't be getting much of a game.

Remember that this is street fighter we are talking about, it is the gameplay that counts. If this would ever happen slight visual downgrade will not really hurt the game.
Also who are you talking to?

I thought the Wiimote sideways was better.

Just no waggle controls ala MK Armageddon, not even as a choice.
