Has anyone seen a review of the new gamepads? I've seen plenty on the TE arcade stick that retails for $150. I'm looking for a review of the $50 custom six button layout gamepads.
Anyone know? If the D-pad appears to be functional I will fork out the dough for these quick.
Street Fighter IV

After nearly a decade in hiatus, Capcom's signature mainline fighting game series resurfaces with its fourth main installment, combining the traditional 2D gameplay with modern fully-3D graphics.
Street Fighter IV MadCatz Gamepads....reviewed?
"Usually if a product is made by MadCatz, you should avoid it."Dude, Madcatz is totally pulling through with this SF4 stuff.
"Usually if a product is made by MadCatz, you should avoid it."Normally I would agree but, have you seen the new Tournament Edition Arcade Stick? The game blogs that have played with it are going bananas. Seth Killian claims it's the greatest retail stick you can buy. This time it appears MadCatz has their game face on.
If anyone has any links to the gamepad review, post them here. Thanks!
I can't find a place that is still taking pre-orders for the TE stick, but that's too expensive for my tastes anyway.

sweet, thanks for the link.
Any others? I'm a little worried about the line "I'm actually not too crazy about the 8-way D-pad--it's still way better than the stock D-pad on the regular 360 and PS3 controllers though".
Come on, a cold dead fish is better than the 360 d-pad, this tells me nothing.
I will be picking up 2 of them for sure. A Mad Catz controller killed my Dreamcast back in the day but from what I have read they are getting their stuff together, I just cant imagine playing SFiV without a arcade stick.
"I'm assuming these are all wired controllers... but I've never heard for sure. Is there any hope for wireless?"Playstation 3 ones are wireless.
EDIT: Mental note - check someone else hasn't answered the question before posting. ;)
"Royale said:"I'm assuming these are all wired controllers... but I've never heard for sure. Is there any hope for wireless?"The PS3 version is wireless, but the 360 one is wired. They couldn't do wireless for 360 because of some Microsoft license thing or something."
No wireless for the 360? that is tragic!
"I'm assuming these are all wired controllers... but I've never heard for sure. Is there any hope for wireless?"
Wouldn't you prefer wired if it reaches? Play with a wireless for a while, youll see what I mean. Actually, don't. Then it'll be hard to revert.
I love street fighter but 150 dollars is to much.
I can buy alot of shit for 150 dollars and a stick is not on that list.

IGN gave it a pretty good review.
I'm GLAD the 360 version isn't wireless, since that means I can use it on PC. :D
"Royale said:Do you really notice some form of latency using the 360s wireless controllers? I guess you are right.. I don't have any experience with wired controllers, except for when they're plugged via the play and charge. Does the play and charge kit just power the wireless part of the wireless controller as it charges or actually act as a wired controller?"I'm assuming these are all wired controllers... but I've never heard for sure. This sheds more light on the gamepads. Good read for those who passed Quad's earlier post. Unfortunately I'm torn knowing the 360 pad is wired. I do not preferred wired as I have my living room set up for the freedom of wireless. In fact, I play less Guilty Gear solely because of my PS2 controller wires. I feel the stick prices are too much though....damn, what's a fan to do? Instead of picking up two gamepads I might have to get a stick and let my second players deal with the 360's horrid D-pad. Ugh.
Don't want to stray too far from the MadCatz offerings that are coming out with the game, but does anyone have any experience with the old Hori Fighting Stick EX2 for the 360? The thing has no aesthetic whatsoever but the price is right as a possible alternative to the gamepads.

I got the fightpad for PS3 this weekend and so far I am really liking it. I was playing SSF2HDR online with a buddy in the morning with my new character Dhalsim. He kept working me with Cammy and Chun Li.
I got the fightpad and played him again that afternoon and I had a much easier time pulling off the moves. It's really helpful to have all 6 buttons on the face and not have to worry about hitting the shoulders. The pad is really nice and responsive. I was able to pull off moves more consistently than with the PS3 controller. Also, it is less painful on the thumb.
I definitely recommend it for pad players.
The TE stick is excellent, and the pads are fine. They are based on the great Saturn pads so it's natural they would be.
Still hate Madcatz though.
Fightpads review - 8/10.
