I use a regular controller (PS3), and I've already started to develop some thumb blistering. Any tips or recommendations to prevent further hand injury? Good lord there's a lot of semi-circular action going on in this game.

Thumb blistering
There's this device called a Joystick :) Alternatively, get one of the many PS3 pads that would suit the game, or even old PS2 one like the one below, which can be still got online for fairly cheap. Certainly a lot cheaper than the current MadCatz ones.
