“If I have anything to say about it, and I do, you will not have to wait ten years for Street Fighter 5. It will be before 2019. Now I’m going to be fired for promising Street Fighter 5 before 2019. I think I should be OK. We’ll see. They’ll do 2020 just to screw me and make me look like an ass.”
When asked what the next game will be like. he closed up...not that he was ever open in the first place:
“I have to be very guarded. Or the case will be some other game cops the idea. That happens all of the time. With the rebirth of fighters there’s a lot of great games coming out. I’m always paranoid when I’m looking at new games to see if someone’s stolen one of the ideas I have in my notebook of awesome stuff. It’s not like they’ve read my notebook or they’ve cheated me out of it. They’ve come to it on their own clever reasoning.”
I highly doubt any company would want to steal there new gem system...
Despite the air of sarcasm, I'm actually quite happy to hear this vague date quotation, as I would like to see some of their other fighting game franchises take the mantle now, or better still, reboots of classic series in other genres. Capcom easily has some of the best IP's, and I think it's high time they focus on them now, so fans can play next gen versions of Demon's Crest and Strider!. I think both could be realised in a very fitting manner in the next generation of consoles, I don't think I could be happy with any offerings in this generation, not while they continue to use a lacking MT Framework engine, which does some things excellently, while doing other equally important things, poorly.
Anyway, I feel like I've had more than enough Street Fighter, and this isn't the first time..
