Streets of Rage 2 was so much better

Granted, SoR3 is basically the same thing, but with more stuff, but I didn't like this game nearly as much.  It felt too "copy and pasted."

3 is the best for me, it's more refined than the other 2. And it also lets you do the special move as long as a meter is full.

I think Streets of Rage 3 is the best from a technical standpoint.  SoR2 was too easy imo.  I prefer SoR over it.  3 was like Sonic 3, which took everything good about the series and cranked it up to 11.  The only bad thing is that SoR3 is like brutally difficult.  I've read that they changed the difficulty to where the JPN Hard became the US Normal.

I really don't like Streets Of Rage 2. The game is really slow and sluggish, which is weird considering that Streets Of Rage was relatively fast.

Streets Of Rage 3 is the pinnacle of the series in my opinion. The character design looks way better, grittier and more realistic (in a King Of Fighters realistic kind of way), the speed of the game is hyperactive plus all of the additional moves that you could do with the dash and roll, the soundtrack kicks fucking ass with super abrasive and noisy techno, and there's multiple endings! Plus, the fighting is much faster and way more fluid. Streets Of Rage 2's fighting system was slow and clunky and unenjoyable.

I absolutely love 2 but  could never bother finishing 3, the grand upper move (which sounds more like "mega paw!" ) is absolutely brilliant and can defeat like 4 or 5 enemies all at the same time.... and it has that weird dominatrix conveyor belt section....streets 2 is infinitely better

SOR2 was the best in the series imo, it's an absolute classic.

I think Streets or Rage3 would have been better if they didn't change the story for the NA release. I love the artwork in it, and the extra features, but 2 was great fun and really solid.

The character models were the same from SoR2, only palette-swapped.  One of the playable characters was a kangaroo.  How is that realistic?

Also, what in the hell prompted this thread to rise from its grave?

I've been playing Streets of Rage 3 on the Ultimate Genesis Collection.  sickVisionz is right, though, in that it is definately better from a more technical standpoint. The other problem, as he also mentioned, is how brutally difficult it is. They did really well to take out the exploits (the uppercut was almost always unbeatable in the second game), but because of how sped up the game is, how many enemies are now on screen at once and how much they damage they do, the game is super hard, even for a veteran of the series.

Also, I'm really not digging the music. In fact, I pretty much hate the grungy, gritty look and sound of the game, and, in my opinion, it dates it far worse than Streets of Rage 2. Funnily enough, these criticisms could just as easily be fitted to Comix Zone, as well. I will admit that a great deal of this comes down to taste, though. I didn't grow up with Streets of Rage 3 (only 1 and 2) and so it always feels like a weird mutation of my favourite beat 'em up.
