Everyone is always shitting on Super Mario Bros 2, the game is a friggin' classic... just because it's a re-skinned non mario game or some such nonsense (not that it matters.)

SMB2 was a good game, but nowhere near one of my favorite mario games (probably closer to one of my least favorites...)

The game wouldn't have gotten the exposure it deserved hadn't it been modded. It was a great game, and although it wasn't a Mario game, it was impeccable.

Oh it is a great game! as a Mario title it may seem a little sub-par but on it's own, it has nothing to be shy about.

This is actually an awesome game.  It might not be as good as SMB3 or SMW but I think it had a unique style.  I was really young the first time I played this game.  Maybe it's a nostalgia thing.  Also I can time the slot machine to get 3 cherries every time!!!

I just found out this game was a US only game that was an adapted version of some jap game. This way by far my most favorite Mario game when I was a kid in the 80s. I really liked the shy guys, birdos, veggies, and all the really cool bosses.

I like how the main overworld theme for this game gets stuck in your head for days. You find yourself whistling it at the most random times.

I don't think Super Mario Bros. 2 is as good as Super Mario Bros. but it's still a great game.

Necroposting aside, SMB 2 isn't a bad game by any stretch of the imagination. It's just not as good as say: Super Mario Bros 3.

This and Zelda II get mixed reactions among fans. I thought they were both good games, despite being very different from the rest of their franchises.

Nintendo's american sequels were shit back in the day. Mario, Zelda, Metal Gear.

I hate how most video game sites rank this as the worst mario game, only because it's not a real mario game. That's a stupid reason.

Least favorite Mario the NES but that doesn't mean it sucked, actually alot of fun

This game owns. I had a double blast when it just so happened that Super Mario Advance was SMB2.

I don't care if it was a reskin of another game. It was very imaginative and fun.
 
Also probably the first NES game I ever beat.

I liked the game, but I shit on it for it not actually being a Mario game, and shaking my head as to why these things happen/ed with Japan to US releases. What was wrong with the real Mario 2? The slew of Final Fantasy games that got skipped over?

The real Mario 2 was basically a super-hard remix of 1. I think in the west we had a higher expectation for sequels than that at that point.
