Ah, good old SMB3. How we put down our well earned money to see the Wizard so we could get a glimpse of the gem that is Super Mario Bros 3. The first time that we got the racoon suite will forever be a cherished chldhood memorie of the 90's. But has the racoon suite flown us far away from looking at the negatives or are these pixels too sharp on the edges?

       Controls
The good old 5 button NES controller, so simple but it gets the job done. To move you use the D-pad to move left and right in a level. On the world map you use the left, right,up and down buttons on the D-pad to navigate a new level. To enter your selected level you press the A button. While in the level the A button alows you to jump. If you have the racoon suite and have filled the P-bar all the way pressing A and continuously taping A alows you to glide for a period of time. To fill up the P-bar you must first have the racoon suite on Mario. Find a flat plain to run across. And once the P-bar is filled up 100% begin tapping A to fly. The B button is also your attack button. In the racoon suite if you tap B you will hit an enemy with your tail. When you have fire Mario if you press B you will shoot a fire ball from your hand into an enmy. While the tanookie suite is equiped and you press down on the D-pad then B you will turn to stone and evade the hit of a bullet bill. With the hammer bro suite press B to throw a hammer at your enemy. Then there is the frog suite. Only good for underwater levels. No explenation needed

     Presentation
SMB3 is a huge step up from the original Super Mario Bros on the NES. Trees look more like trees. Pipes look very smooth and Mario looks awesome in the variouse suites he picks up on the way. Although it has been said many times many ways this is one of, if not best looking NES games ever.

     Sound
Due to the limitations of the NES sound SMB3 sound great! From the cheereness of the world one map to the deep, tretcherous sounds of the world 8 map. This game sounds stupendous. Although not much of the music you hear in this game will be indented in your mind like the world 1-1 theme(the super mario bros theme) was but still has some of the best Mario music of the 3 on the NES.

      Story
Its the same old story as all the other Super Mario Bros games(except 2). Peach is captured by bowser and mario must rescue her by going through 8 diverse worlds. Throught these worlds there are Kings who have been transformed by the 7 Koopa Kids(wonder where thoes came from). They will be in an airship that you have to traverse till you get to the Koopa Kid, defeate him/her, get the wand back and save the king.

     Verdict
Overall Super Mario Bros 3 is a great game. Probably the best in the series of the NES trillogy. No question the most  hyped of them all. The levels can be very short at times some 20 secs while others are perplexing and fun to play. The toad houses are a fun side game. The final bowser boss(omg spoilers bowsers the final boss) is very lack luster and not that fun to play. Aside from all these gripes deffinatley play this game if you get the chance.

@RotenTomato: You are a little late.

Good review though, a little to brief for such a large game.

I want to see more of this applied to newer games, and thus I will follow you.

There are no caps in the NES version-

Screw it, these jokes are not funny.

    RP is really gay.
