The latest issue Famitsu has shed some new light on Super Mario Galaxy 2's story.  According to the magazine (which has been translated by a NeoGaf member), Galaxy 2's story sees Princess Peach once again inviting Mario to watch stardust fall from the sky, which as you'll know from the first game, only happens once every 100 years, meaning the story is set 100 years after the original Galaxy. En route to the castle, Mario comes across lost baby Luma called "Baby Chico," who journeys to the castle with Mario where something typically Mario-like is destined to happen, or will it :?

The 2nd players pointer controls Baby Chico, who appears to be controlled by Wii Remote IR alone according to Nintendo's website, but there is no confirmation of this.

Actually it doesn't have to be 100 years. If you recall the end of the first Mario Galaxy, then you remember that Mario's universe had been completely reset. So it's possible that in the new, reset universe, the stardust could fall at different intervals OR it could have reset the universe to just before that time.
