Blast off into a Galaxy sized Adventure

With the name Super Mario Galaxy in the title Super Mario Galaxy 2 had a lot to live up too. As you can tell from my five star rating it not only lives up to its predecessor but overcomes it. It has the same mechanics, gameplay and look as Super Mario Galaxy did while introducing new power-ups, new level navigation similar to that of Super Mario 3 as well as Yoshi. The story starts out as any Mario game should, your on your way to go eat some cake Peach has made for you when instead you find her in the arms of Bowser and must save her by collecting stars stolen by Bowser. The game doesn't become unique until after the first level when you hit the world map in Mario's "Faceship" a ship that is litteraly Mario's face. Rather then having you blast off into worlds from the main station you must navigate a map, get certain stars to pass through gates and ultimately fight either Bowser or Baby Bowser to move on into another world.
While Yoshi was the new feature Nintendo most wanted to show off the green dinosaur doesn't appear as much as you would think. He comes in almost immediately and the seems to disappear for about 3 worlds and then starts to appear in every other galaxy. He plays just the same as Mario and Luigi, except when you point at enemies or certain objects with the Wii remote you can hit the B button to latch on and eat the target with your tongue. He also has a few poer-ups that can only be used by him like the chili pepper that can make him run fast and a glow fruit that makes hidden ground appear around your feet for a limited time. Mario/Luigi also get their share of new power-ups including the cloud flower where you can shake the Wii remote to form cloud platforms beneath your feet and the rock mushroom that you can use to roll into obstacles and enemies.
The games main idea seems to be lets take Super Mario Galaxy's mechanics and ideas and test the limits of it. As a result every level is either a calm, fun experience or a mind blowing, wild roller coaster. The also added certain Galaxies that are played entirely in a 2D fashion, they maintained the graphics and 3D look while the levels them self are just go to-the-right straightforward. There are no 2 galaxies that look alike or offer a similar experience, Each and every one of them seems crazier then the last so once you start you will never want to put down the Wii remote.
As I Mentioned earlier Luigi is a playable character that you can find in some Galaxies where he offers to take over for Mario for the level; After you beat the game He offers permanent switches between him and Mario. Alot about this game will be nostalgic for veterans of the Mario series. One galaxy is based off the 3rd level from Yoshi's Island on the SNES with a remix of the tune as well. The bowser levels will also have a remix of the Bowser level theme from Super Mario 64, there is even a Galaxy called "Throwback Galaxy" that is a recreation of the classic Whomps Fortress from Super Mario 64. Alot of the later Galaxies are tips of the hat to previous games in the serious that are sure to make Mario pros squeal in delight.
Super Mario Galaxy had big boss fights as well and Super Mario Galaxy 2 does not disappoint with new Bosses such as Gobblegut, The Doomsday Machine and of course Bowser. Bosses play similar to Super Mario Galaxy as you must find where they are weak and find a way to smash it as hard as you can.
Whether your a fan of the series or your new to the Mario series Super Mario Galaxy 2 is sure to make an impact on this long and wild, galaxy exploring ride.

WARNING: Do not play this game if you hate having a good time 0

I don't know about the rest of you, but I am sick and tired of game journalism consistently missing a very key demographic in their reviews. It's as if they're purposefully ignoring us and what we want out of a game, despite the fact there are literally dozens of us out there. I'm of course talking about people who don't like having fun. "10/10 because it's so much fun!!!", "omg best game I've ever played!", "a non-stop bash set into overdrive!" bah! What about me, the consum...

Yo, I hear Mario Galaxy 2 is an alright game... 0

Nintendo’s darling franchise is back, and this time in intergalactic fashion—again. Super Mario Galaxy 2 is essentially a leaner and meaner iteration of its predecessor. Nintendo took every part of the original Mario Galaxy that may have felt like it was slowing the player down, and streamlined it. On top of that, all new gameplay mechanics are thrown into a scary number of ambitiously designed “galaxies”. Collecting power stars has never been this much fun. Mario and Yoshi are blasting off A...
