Crazy Volume Problems

#1 Posted by Veratule (2 posts) -

I've got a very unusual bug that wasn't mentioned here. When I load up Super Meat Boy, it suddenly AMPS THE CRAP OUT OF THE VOLUME when I press start at the intro screen. It should say 100 volume 100 sfx, but instead it says:

Music Volume: 1398759163
SFX Volume: 1162890959

I was able to successfully match up that the file "savegame.dat" unsurprisingly contains the error. I managed to view the file, but I don't know which value in the hexadecimal grid will allow me to correct the volume.

I should mention that:
1) After a re-install of everything (working fine), I added back in my old savegame.dat and the sound problem came back.    ***Steam Version***
2)  It would take me months to fix the volume by hand because we can't manually type in values and the volume decrements by 5.

I would really like it if someone could help me modify the volume directly through the hexadecimal code because I'm one level short of the last boss (world 6) and I'd hate to have to start over :(

Thank you for your help!

Wow, I had JUST read this and thought "That must suck" and decided to play Super Meat Boy and bam... The exact same problem happened. First time I've had this happen to be. I just press right a few times and it went back down to 100. I've reloaded the game and it stayed at 100. I'm also on the steam version.

@Veratule: Yeah, same thing happened to me, it was pretty hilarious.

Just click on or adjust the volume within the menus, fixes it no problem.

Saw this on the Super Meat Boy twitter page:  " its a bit of a bitch but if you mute, go to settings and lower volume to 100 youll be fine."

Thanks guys, pressing right fixed it (I should have tried right as well as left)

Now I wince whenever I press that spacebar.  Was so loud it woke the dead...

it's a bit buggy atm, but it's still playable and... "enjoyable"... (my hands hurt :( )

Agreed. My hands hurt and I think I've doubled the amount of swears I've said in my life since the release.

It's like "going up to 11" just didn't quite gel with them.

I'm definitely chuckling.

I haven't booted the Steam version since launch day.
