Well, this isn't the most graceful transition... I decided to make a poll out of this question as per advice from the old thread. I flagged the old one for moderators to clean up, sorry for any confusion.
 
Some people say the d-pad is unusable, and I agree. I also happen to think jumping and using X to run is impossible, but maybe I'm crazy?
 
I ask mainly because in Brad's quick look he used the hardest combo: controlling with the d-pad and running with X. Maybe that's why he died so often? I'm a joystick/RT man myself.
