If by gold you mean that disgusting dull yellow color... then yes, it did.

Mine hasn't changed color that noticeably.

Everyone knows that the cool SNES's were never Grey & Purple:

Mine turned urine yellow, maybe you had a special SNES.  Comes from the plastic exposure to oxygen I think.

I think later model SNESs were made of nicer plastic.

My cool snes is as grey as usual just as the controllers, i have some imitation controllers that did change colour though.

Snes revision 1 US edition had a limited initial run whos plastic would change color over time this was eliminated about half way through its life cycle, the Revision 2 snes US editions never had this problem.

Mine's still gray and purple, and the best part is that it's still gray and purple even though back when I first got it my parents smoked stupid amounts of cigarettes (they quit, thankfully) which turned half the shit in the house cigarette cancer goo yellow.

I have one of the early American SNES's and yup, you guessed it, it became discolored with time and is now a fugly yellow.

My old one that I sold as far as I know is grey/purple.

My consoles are all their original color, unless you count the dust on them.

mine is still normal , but where the rest is its starting to turn yellow, but hasnt changed since, but i wish it was gold! id be rich ahaha
