Super R-Type

Super R-Type is regarded as one of the hardest installments in the R-Type series and in the shooter genre in general, most notably due to it's lack of a checkpoint system.  Dying at any point in a level requires the player to start the level again from the very beginning. 
 
 Super R-Type contains re-used elements of R-Type and R-Type II, while adding 3 new original levels.  
 
Level Select:

• At title screen hold R and press UP 9 times
• Start a game, then pause and hold Select A R
• Change the number on the screen to the level desired (note: numbers 11-17 are set to a higher difficulty level)
  

 
Full Weapon Power-up:

• At title screen press DOWN, R, RIGHT, DOWN, RIGHT, RIGHT, DOWN, RIGHT, DOWN, DOWN
• Start a game, then pause and R, RIGHT, DOWN, Y, DOWN, RIGHT, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, DOWN, RIGHT, RIGHT
• After entering the code, press one of the following to determine the gun type:  Y = Spread Shot, X = Reflect Laser, B = Ground Laser, A = Sky Laser, R = Bomb Shot
• Then, press one of the following to determine missile type: X = Ground Missile, A = Homing Missile
  

 
Remixed BGM:

• In the BGM section, play a song, then press R
• Hold R until a set of tones is produced
  
• A remixed version of that song should begin to play

 
Harder difficulties:

• You can unlock harder difficulty levels by beating the game on Hard mode.
