Hey guys, here is the first part in my Ken series, there will be 3+ more covering things such as essential combos as well as ultra setups and gimmicks... I will edit this thread when I make more vids; this vid focuses on kara mechanics. I begin with kara throw, then move to hadoken, then focus, and finally tatsu. The main focus is kara throw of course, sorry if I am vague with respect to the other forms of kara. I do not cover kara srk because it is useless, Ken is not Sagat. At the end I set Ryu to cpu and show different applications for kara throws.
 
This is my first ever tutorial, I know it is bad. I really did try, so please play nice. Please ask questions if you need more of an explanation. 
 
I would appreciate it if this thread was left open, as a lot of this does not belong in the beginners thread.

Great tutorial.  Next time, show some finger movement on the fight stick.

At the rate that I'm sucking, I might as well pick up Ken as one of my mains.

I wasn't even aware that Ken had a kara hadouken or a kara focus. That's pretty cool. Good video, Stang.

The camera is a foot away from me, maybe it is because of that. I am simply pressing them, I am not slamming them or anything. "

Kara throwing makes rushdown Ken fun to play, I haven't tried him in super yet.
 
I hear Adon has a kara throw that has a lot of range, not gotten round to trying it though.

Nice thread Stang. You should put this into the Guides section of SSF4 so the thread doesn't get lost.
 
Edit: Holy crap, Ken seems mad dangerous.... I don't play Ken but I always have trouble with kara anything. I'm trying to learn Makoto and her Kara Karakusa (Command Grab) and that shit is hard. Also just learning on a stick, so it's going to take some time. But I'm determined to get better lol.

Wow. I understood most of that. Of course, I'm not at the level where I can do any of it, but the stuff with the kara fireballs blew my mind.

He still may not be as good as Ryu, but he most definitely has the tools to make you competitive. In the end, it comes down to your style. Ken is mixups and rush down, Ryu is zoning and um....boring. I got a request. Can you make some movies for basic moves? Like for people just starting? Like...cancels and other stuff?  
 
Showing you put in the commands and explaining? I do not know any of the terms used for the game.

@Stang That was an awesome vid. Don't be so hard on yourself either, you did a pretty good job explaining everything and it was better than a lot of random YouTube tutorials I've seen.
 
Question: I wouldn't consider myself a beginner, but I've been playing with a pad for the majority of my fighting game career (I'd play in arcades a lot, but I only got serious later on with a SNES pad, then a PS pad, etc...). I've finally gotten myself a stick and I'm still getting the hang of some things. Could you direct me somewhere that explains plinking and piano inputs? Unless you want to try to explain it yourself. I get the gist of it, but some of it escapes me.

i could definitely use a video on plinking as thats something thats just not working right now. so if anyone can help that would be great. i saw a few on yt recently but i dunno its just not sinking in

this should be made compulsary reading for any ken srk spammers out there.  
 
srsly tho cool vid i did not know ken could do half those things.
