SSFIV:AE Rebalance coming this Fall/Winter

I honestly hope this ends with Yun and Yang being garbage and Hakan being the best character in the game. You know, just to mess with everyone.

This could be really good or really bad. Vanilla was decent, Super despite the love it got was awful, AE is decent. If they tone down The Twins and Fei then leave everyone else alone it'll be fine.... If they tweak like half the cast, I'll be pissed.

Please don't nerf Dudley's damage! He got away with no damage nerfs in AE. 
 
Somebody talked to Ono about Dudley not being so great in AE but good in Third Strike and Ono agreed, so I'm hoping that means Dudley could be getting some love. Although if they add too much he will be a bit too good as he already does more damage than most of the cast.

Does everyone forget that fuerte has only been getting nerfs ever since vanilla.

I agree. Dudley still has to work for his wins, even after his AE buffs. Keep his damage the same, but give him more tools. Make his Thunderbolt useful.

Changes wishlist:

-Yun's genei-jin damage reduced; overall meter gaining abilites reduced as well

-Yun palm hitbox reduced

-Yun command grab range nerfed

-Fei Long damage reduction on rekkakens

-Fei Long can't combo into sweep

-Buff Hakan's non-oiled spd range

-Bring back Rose 0 frame ultra 2

-Honda gets more damage on HHS

-Nerf viper's neutral jump RH

-Give T.Hawk a BNB off his light punches

-Oni needs to not be dependant on gamble mixups, make his specials more solid.

-E. Ryu needs his wheel kicks to be buffed, otherwise hes just a shitty ryu

-Makoto needs a nerf on standing medium punch (either DMG or hitbox)

-Give back Geif's knockdown from ex green hand but SLIGHTly reduce light spd range (if its that big a deal, increase the damage on the light spd as a balance)

-Akuma needs to not have a 0 frame super, it's a little ridiculous, that or damage nerf on his hp.srk

-Nerf Fei's chicken wings, only let his ex have that much invincibility, his other chicken wings should have only like 2-3 frames, not on startup either.

-Ken shouldn't be able to srk FADC into full ultra, its too much damage for a safe gamble.

-Bring back balrog's original headbutt properties and bring back his damage on juggled ultras.

-Take out sagat being able to FADC backdash > ultra.

-Make Rufus' ultra 2 anti-air again.

-Give Dee Jay a damage boost

-Give Fuerte one solid BnB off his lp

-Make Guile's sonic booms do just a tad more damage, maybe like just 10 more.

-Nerf Cammy's ridiculous combo damage.

-Give Dan one solid BnB of a light normal

-Bring back rose's original slide frame advantage (geif can spd her on hit if it isn't absolutely max range)

-Juri needs to acquire her fireballs faster, the initial stacking of them takes too long.

-Ibuki needs her vortex to be as it was in Super.

So yeah, overall i'd say AE as of right now is a bit of a mess looking at this list.

Ken, Balrog, Akuma, Sagat and Viper are perfect as they are. I think they are some of the characters that are just plainly well balanced now. I'd like to see Sagat get his old standing light kick back but that would improve his close range game way too much for a character that good at zoning. I do think Sagat should have his first ultra fixed so it does full damage in the corner.
 
Fei Long isn't that bad either, if they were to nerf him it should be something minor, maybe adjust his rekkas so he can't frame trap quite as well with them; make it so there's less of a window between the second rekka coming out in sequence. That and reduce damage on EX flame kick.
 
They need to be very careful with buffing Dudley as he already hits like a truck and stuns like a motherfucker, has two great ultras as well. Both can be used to catch backdashes easily with option selects, the first one goes through projectiles at a good range and can punish teleports, the second combos off pretty much everything and does good damage still, also a killer anti-air/neutral jump catcher. Oh, also that standing and forward fierce of his, 'nuff said.

I strongly agree with you strongly disagreeing.

I said either that or nerf his damage on srk or the super... look don't you think it's kinda ridiculous that akuma from one air fireball setup or one standing roundhouse can either srk you safely, 0 fram super for 300+ damage, go for a throw, there is no smart options there but to jump and hopefully just get hit by an srk.

@Ygg: No no no, balrog is terrible at his fireball matchups. Trust me, not to toot my own horn, but I was a previous balrog player in super, and against shotos I'd do well, we'd trade wins. Now, it's so hard to win in those matchups playing those same players; I went from splitting even with a ryu player I know to having to switch characters on that matchup to ROSE (someone who is presumably worse) just to even it up. Rog needs his old headbutt and damage back.

@demontium: Seth is fine is you prefer to play him as a rushdown character but without jump back fierce his keepaway game is significantly weaker. I liked having the option to play both styles depending on the matchup and opponent.

I used to play Balrog a lot, I won a local tourney with him shortly after the release of Super, what's changed with him in AE? I played him recently and he felt mostly the same aside from the damage changes. What's made him weaker against fireball characters now?

@Ygg: Firstly, no crouching characters most importantly sagat, cannot be hit with far standing light punches. But in fireball matches, headbutts are soooo risky. Using them to punish a fireball is not a worthwhile gamble due to decreased damage and tons of recovery.

^ This and increase the hit-stun after fuhajin is released. So FADCing it to Ultra is more easier to do. Too much to ask for of Juri? ;_;

They would have to do a lot to make Juri a good character, but making her acquire fireballs faster would be crazy.  She can already keep up with fireball wars and unless you try to zone someone, you don't have to stack them.
Unless your enemy is in the corner you can only get 1 fireball in a combo, because the pushback is too big.
 
I'd prefer if they changed her juggle values, to make her juggle more like Sakura. If she isn't supposed to be a good character, atleast make her interesting.

Yup. Actually I don't own Street Fighter IV at all, just played it here and there. Never tried AE, but heard the balancing issues were a reason to stay away. But I just bought it on steam right after I posted that so yeah. Now I can just play regular Super until the AE re balances happen. It's kinda what I wanted to play anyway.

Yeah I realized that after the fact, but really, I haven't been playing enough Super to truly feel the difference. Matchmaking is sometimes empty, which is a bit disappointing, but otherwise it feels like a solid PC port. I even bought a stick today, oh god what did I get into?
