Street Fighter II Beginner Tutorial - Most of the basics of Street Fighter haven't changed over the years, so the concepts explained here are still very important to understand.  Street Fighter IV does have advanced techniques beyond the scope of Street Fighter II, and you'll find videos explaining those techniques a little latter.  I've also excluded the second part of the beginner tutorial, as almost everything explained does not apply to Street Fighter IV.

Street Fighter II Intermediate Tutorial - This video covers combos, cross-ups, reversals, and more.

Street Fighter II Advanced Tutorial - overheads, piano inputs, the fact that letting go of a button can also activate specials and supers, and more.

Street Fighter IV Combo Tutorial - A detailed explanation of all the ways you can put a series of moves together to form a combo.

Street Fighter IV Focus Attack Video - How to use the focus attack, dash out of a focus attack, focus attack into an ultra, focus attack cancel a move to juggle your opponent into the air, and more.  Despite what is said at the end, no other videos in this series were made.

The last two videos here mostly cover techniques that have already been covered, but there are a few important additions that have not been talked about, such as some advanced throwing techniques.

Finally, please consider this a supplement to the existing Giant Bomb Street Fighter IV Beginner's Tutorial, which can be found here:
    http://www.giantbomb.com/guides/beginners-guide-to-moves-combos-and-fighting-strategies/902/
The videos above are really more of a quick introduction to SSFIV.  The guide in the link above goes into even more detail.  While the videos don't go into quite as much detail as the text, they do show you an actual controller in the hands of a player, which should be helpful in implementing the techniques you've seen in the videos above.

I hope this was helpful to any new players.  If anyone knows of some other good tutorial videos that cover topics not explained above, or if you feel they just explain things in a better way, feel free to post them below.  Any good individual character videos might also be a good idea for this thread.   How to play a character well, not just insane combos without explanation, of course.

    lordofultima edit:

Please check out some of my 3-minute fundamentals covering aspects of Street Fighter IV (these are still applicable to Super Street Fighter IV). I will be making more in the near future once I get some better recording gear for consoles. Stay tuned for that.

This is a great idea. Should be stickied in the SSF4 board.

I used most of these exact videos myself when I decided to get serious with the SFIV. It really does help you get better if you watch and study this stuff and take it in. Sticky please!

I would be happy to make a Ken video if anybody out there is genuinely interested in using him beyond the stereotypical level which most people here expect.

Yes, I even linked to the SF IV guide in my original post.  I went with a thread instead, because I didn't think I should make a guide with several videos that were made by other people.  If the mods disagree, I'd be fine with this being a guide instead, but I'd personally feel more comfortable with it as a thread.

Any other site where they don't have a guide feature I can see a thread like this make sense, but having a guide means you don't have to scroll down needlessly and everything is more organised (especially when others add their vids in )

People put their vids up to be looked at anyway, I'm pretty sure we don't need their permission for what is essentially a link to youtube. But you're right, this is new territory so lets see what the mods think.

That's really important to know.  Without dash forward focus canceling, is almost impossible for some characters to land their ultra.  Fei Long, I'm looking at your low tier ass. :(

Just as an aside, the combo video does not talk about target combos, which is kind of like linking except that you do the button inputs in a rhythm instead of following the hit timing going-on on the screen.  If interested, you can look at like Guy's or Dudley's move lists for good examples.  Just saying :)

Got my Hauppauge HD PVR in the mail today, 4 days before scheduled arrival! So I did a test recording with SSFIV, demonstrating some Akuma Ultra II (Demon Armageddon) setups. Check it! Teleport scales ultra 100 damage, I think I just discovered something shitty! Yay?

Thanks for telling me you lose 100 damage for cancelling into U2 from a teleport - I had no idea. The fireball-punishing set up seems pretty cool and really fits in with my reason I have for using Akuma; doing cool little things like that to annoy my opponent. I know he's not a gimmicky character but I kind of enjoy using him that way.

The giant write-up for Akuma's Super Gimmicks are at sf4 answers. Check it out

"The Itabashi Slayer" is a silly name I came up with for an interesting kara super setup for Akuma in Super Street Fighter IV. WestAB pitched the idea of this trick to me, and after him using it successfully a bunch of times I was convinced it was the greatest thing ever, and have thus made a tutorial explaining how it works.

It's essentially a super kara'd with a far standing roundhouse kick. There is a legitimate method to do this type of demon, but it involves a complicated plink that is sort of like a tongue twister for your hands...so this method grants you the benefit of the roundhouse's added range, as well as a built-in setup to land it -- with a much more lenient input to boot, more akin to the overhead kara demon than any plinking shenanigans.

Yeah everything in this game is like that. I remember when the game out and srk fadc ultra was so complicated and advanced I thought I would never do it. Of course now it's bread and butter for Ryu players.

This thread needs to be bumped as it's being refused to be sticked aparantly. Way more important and easier to learn by using the stuff in this thread then using any of the poor guides on the site or by using the Begginner sticky thread.
