Why has there not been any reviews for this yet?

Why hasn't there been any reviews for this yet? It comes out in under 20 hours, is the embargo really this close to the release? I'm not sure how well this bodes for the game!

Dude, it's Monday.

@FauxNinja: EA has a review embargo on all sites from running reviews until day after release.

#4 Posted by Vager (1654 posts) -

Lots of games have their embargos right up until midnight of the games release day.

#5 Posted by Wuddel (2100 posts) -

Because it is early in the day in the US and Syndicate comes out on the 24th in Europe.

There are already plenty of unofficial reviews from ppl who got the game early and, likely as not, a lot of pirates.. Common themes seem to be 6-7 hour sp campaign, average to above average shooter, style more in common with deus ex than the old syndicate games.

Aha, thanks, I hadn't seen any discussion regarding it, was wondering whether it was just being forgotten or over embargoed.

Cool, cheers for the info :)

Always a good sign when they embargo reviews until after release.

#9 Posted by Rolyatkcinmai (2699 posts) -

I would love if it were only 6 hours. Sadly, I heard it's much longer.

@Mordukai: They did that with DA2 PC.

DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUN

Considering this game is made by the guys who did Riddick and the Darkness it should turn out pretty good.

Or more accurately it should be an interesting experiment that doesn't quit work the way it should.

Yes! Characters and atmosphere is what Starbreeze has always been good at, very interested to see if that still applies with Syndicate

All I know is that multplayer demo had me hooked despite freezing my xbox a couple of times and the single player looks like it will have an interesting campaign.

#18 Posted by FauxNinja (59 posts) -

Fingers crossed :) I'm gonna remain optimistic and wait for reviews to roll in :D

We didn't know how to break it to you, but the game is cancelled. Weird since it's about to come out, but Starbreeze was like, "Nope!"

Everyone can go home now.

Yeah that's kinda what I mean by only pretty good, I don't expect it to blow my mind or anything as neither Riddick or Darkness did but it should at least be fun and well made.

To those who are like "OMG NO EARLY REVIEW GAEM MUST BE BAD"

nah son, bascially if you know your game is not "skyrim level" universal acclaim, and may have asshats pick it apart for channel/page views, you put an embargo up on the review.

it looks to be a very solid fps, with cool design and characters. nothing ground breaking, but certainly worth 60 bucks if thats what your into

For the ninth time, what the FUCK is syndicate?

Or $40 if you preorder games from Amazon regularly. They had a $20 promotion going on Syndicate since like December.

One more time?

Lol, did you just review a game without playing it?

All EA games have the same embargo including Dead Space 2 and Mass Effect 2.

Think Skyrim, but with less rhythm minigames and platforming.

@RazielCuts: i guess so haha. i played the demo and enjoyed it, i was just trying to dispel the "if no review before release the game is shit" idea

Starbreeze has a solid track record, so I'm betting an entertaining sp campaign at least, and I already love the co-op from the demo, so w/the Amazom $20 promotion, it's not much of a gamble. Really looking forward to it Tuesday, reviews be damned.

A ton of those head guys left and started a new studio with Bethesda. They are working on something using the new id tech.

I know, Syndicate being cancelled and Brad leaving on the same day? This cannot get any worse.

Good news, though. Starbreeze is going to make a sequel to The Darkness. They are fully aware there's already a sequel, but they're confident theirs will be the "true Darkness II".

It will be like the Exorcist Prequels, but ... not ... suck.

7.5 from IGN to start off the reviews.

6.5 from Destructoid.

seems like Co-Op is the meat of the game while the single player is nothing spectacular.

Hmmm I was hoping for better than that. Wil wait for Jeff's review.
