Tales of Destiny II was one best and last PS1 RPGs. 0

Tales of Destiny (proper name: Tales of Eternia) was the first Tales of.. game to reach the States.  It wasn't a hit, but whoever thought to localize this game thought it was a good idea to release it as Tales of Destiny II so it wouldn't confuse people.  In the long run it was a bad idea, as they eventually re-made Tales of Destiny on the PS2 and then gave it a sequel, Tales of Destiny II.  So just like there's two Final Fantasy II and III's, there is also two Tales of Destiny II.  Tales of Ete...

And Tales Of Eternia isn't any different, as it is a port of an older PS1 title. This was before the days of PSN and thus it was treated as a PSP release. The rules of roleplay apply here as always: The bad guy is out to destroy something, so you and your party are going to stop that. At leas...

Fun Combat, The Rest Ranges From Inept To Anodyne 0

I picked this game up because it was a late-era PS1 game that had a great look to it and had the trappings of a hidden gem - I'm no big Tales fan but I've enjoyed a few here and there. As I play through JRPGs as an adult, with a more complete understanding of what even semi-competent writing and game pacing is, I find "classic" JRPGs I (re)visit tend fall into one of two camps - truly stellar on all fronts and well-deserving of praise, or mildly entertaining in a mechanistic sense with excruciat...
