    Tatsunoko character Hakushon Daima, has been rubbed from the American release of Tatsunoko vs Capcom.

    Siliconera is reporting that the genie from 70s cartoon The Genie Family won't be included i the US game. Daimao and his math's mini game, yes you read that right, will remain Japan-only.

    “I guess it’s OK to tell everyone this now” Ryota Niitsuma, Producer of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom said - “He’s [Hakushon Daimao] not in the game. We had some licensing issues with him so we weren’t able to obtain him for the American version.”


     However, Capcom have said that at additional characters will make the cut - but which ones are currently still unknown.

    I've never played Tatsunoku vs. Capcom, but I always hate it whenever they change stuff from the Japanese release...

    I guess it's understandable, though... since they couldn't obtain the rights.

    This has actually been known about for a while now, but it's still disappointing that Capcom has to remove him from the game.  I imagine that of the five character's they're adding for the western release, three of them will be Tatsunoko characters (including one as a roster replacement for the lost character) and two Capcom characters in order to maintain the balance between the rosters.

    Have you read any articles elsewhere that have suggested that?, if so can you link to them. I wouldn't be surprised if that played some role in the decision given the political climate right now. Also, Capcom must be sick of race rows after the whole RE5 thing.

    @Emilio: Or, you know, it could very well be that they really couldn't get the rights to the character.  Tatsunoko's properties are licensed to a large number of companies in the west.  It's more surprising that the game is able to come out here at all.

    They managed to get the rest fine enough. I smell cover up, it really wouldn't surprise me if this rights story is just a smake screen for a more contoversial truth. I think teh fact it's this character and not another, is dubious.

    Dudes, Chad Kroeger uses Giant Bomb!

    As long as the extra's are cooler then Genie then I'll be satisfied. I would love to see all the character's, but unfortunately... shit happens.
