I thought I would give you all a run down of what''s available on the Joystick front on Wii.

Hori Fighting Stick Wii

Hori have a strong reputation for making some of the best peripherals around in the video gaming world. Of particular note are their fighting sticks, fashioned after traditional beat 'em up arcade hardware. With Wii proving so popular it was only a matter of time before Hori got around to building one especially for it, despite the lack of fighters outside of Virtual Console offerings and the forthcoming-in-Europe Guilty Gear Accent Core - but how does it hold up?

The build quality is great, every aspect has a feel of quality. I am aware Hori make other sticks for other consoles such as the 360 and PS3, and while those are equally good this one wins out in terms of aesthetics for me. It looks nice and minimal and is easy on the eyes, unlike the others:

The buttons are arcade machine buttons plain and simple, they are as click-able and as sturdy as you would want them to be. They may not be of the high standard you can expect elsewhere on Tournament Edition sticks, but the fact is they do the job very well indeed, surprisingly so.. The same applies to the joystick itself, it feels strong, smooth and is great to use. It also feels like it will last.

The housing on top is made from strong durable plastic and the panel that has the buttons and joystick on is glossy smooth and very comfortable to use even for long periods of time. The underside has a strong steel metal panel. The device is also well enclosed so minor spills are not likely to cause ruin to the device.

All six buttons support Turbo Mode which can be selected independently for each button (20 imputs a second). The joystick plugs into the Wii Remote extension port in the same way the nunchuk would. The cord itself is of a perfect length that is not too short and not too long.

This is a great Joystick, It's just a shame it doesn't house the Wii Remote that it must use for power and connectivity, but then you should expect that from all Nintendo Wii Joytsicks in future. Other than that, which is such a minor thing given the quality elsewhere, I highly recommend this to anyone that wants to take advantage of using a Joystick in fighting games.

I prefer the Hori.  I may seriously look at these if they become available locally.  I have seen them for the PS3 and 360, so there is no reason to believe the Wii version won't be available.  Exactly what games currently available would it support?

Any game that is played with the clasic controler's D-pad.

All games that support Classic Controller, that includes the full range of classic games on the Virtual Console.

Using that would take me right back to the 70s & 80s at the arcade.  I like.

Exar Neo Geo Stick 2 Wii

The Neo Geo Stick 2 is modelled on the great Neo Geo stick of old, a Joystick well known for it's high performance in 2D fighters. Exar's homage to that great stick, is a good stick, it plays very well with Tatsunoko Vs Capcom's button configuration.

The circular buttons are punchy and responsive, they feel awesome, they're as good as they are on the real thing and are a pleasure to use. The same can be said of the Joystick itself. However, the actual ball on this joystick is considerably larger than that found on original Neo Geo joystick, and for some purists, it may not feel right even though it works perfectly fine.

This stick was actually released on the PS2 some years ago, that PS2 version of the stick wasn't that great due to some shoddy components that were used, this Wii version however has rectified upon this and uses notably better components.  Unfortunately though, it still suffers from one old problem that stick suffered from - it's light weight feel. OK, so the real Neo Geo Stick may not be as heavy as modern Joysticks are, none the less, I really wish this stick was heavier, so much so I actually feel inclined to open both mine up and secure some weights inside. This weight issue comes from not having a metal plate on the bottom, something you'll find on most modern sticks these days. The casing on this stick is made entirely from thick moulded plastic, which while strong, fails to provide the kind of weight that's advantageous for any joystick to have.

The Neo Geo Stick Wii is a great joystick, despite it's minor weight issue.

I probably wouldn't buy a fight stick for the wii, just because almost all the fighting games I own are for other platforms. I've got three for the PS2, and three or four for the 360, but just one for Wii. It might be interesting playing Muramasa with a fight stick though, don't you think?

In that action orientated mode, it should be pretty satisfying, I have yet to try it, I will do next month when the game hits Europe.

I think I have around ten fighting games on Wii so far - Sam Sho Collection, KoF: Orochi Collection, Guilty Gear AC, and GG:AC Plus. as well as a bunch available on the Virtual Console.

Madcatz Tatsunoko Vs Capcom SE Stick  -  2010 - expect a review shortly after release.

It is quite unfortunate but you can't play Muramasa with a fight stick since that game uses the anolog stick for movement.

If the Madcatz stick above is anything like the the Street Fighter 4 version on 360 and PS3, you can switch between analogue and digital, meaning you would be able to play Muramasa, and Smash Bros Brawl for that matter.

UPDATE

Capcom have announced today that the game will hit Japanese shelves on the 28th of January, at a near budget price of  ¥3,990... Given the western focus of this version, my guess is the game will arrive here a touch sooner in the month.
