It's definately a stab at the community. People have been speculating over the Pyro's gender for a while but there hasn't been a definitive answer. I think we'll find out in his/her 'Meet the Team' video, which hopefully will be released with this update.

Man, valve changed that too. First they remove the spy from the background of the sniper update, now they remove that the pyro is female? I HATE VALVES MIND GAMES THEY ARE PLAYING WITH US!!!!

Yeah, that guy's original post was confusing, which is why I just ignored it lol.  Looks like he realized and deleted it.

This is why I think Valve is the best company related to videogames (next to Giantbomb, of course  :V ).  They love fucking with their community, and I love being one because of it.

I haven't played much TF2, but it would make sense.

The thought of Pyro being a girl had never crossed my mind.

I think this is Valve playing with peoples' heads and in a very amusing way too. Personally I think the Pyro is a man but I don't think Valve will ruin the mystery by letting us find out.

one of the maps where every class has a locker in the starting room has a purse in the pyro locker. So ya. I dont think they will ever say the gender, its to much of a mind game at the monent. My guess will be some back shot of the pyro in the meet the pyro video that hints at a female form but that's about it.

I maintain that Valve never intended for people to think that the pyro was a girl. I think the main reason for the purse in the gear was to just throw in something totally random that would make people laugh.

Who knows, when he/she comes out on the top sometimes it says her and sometimes it says him.

Pyro has no gender, it is a fire elemental that is living flame inside a suit.

Ok i noticed something intresting.... those who have Poker at the inventory, know that The heavy is in that game, well as an unlockable you can have the TF2 deck, on that deck is the Red queen as  scouts mom without a top, and red underwear holding a blanket of some sort.... anyways but on the blue queen is a random girl with blonde pig tails, and a blue bikini, with blue boots. Rather intresting... could it be the pyro?
