    I'm fairly sure they're just cosmetic replacements to the standard revolver and pistol.

    @odintal: Valve's TF2 team has been really good about releasing side-grades, as opposed to upgrades, for the classes, or cosmetic things.
     
    It keeps the game a little more fresh, and doesn't break it. I'm a fan.
