The first episode in Telltale Games' Jurassic Park: The Game, set after the events of the original Steven Spielberg film, was supposed to arrive later this month. Instead, Telltale's pushing it back until this fall.

"The game's mechanics and storytelling have come together in such a way that we see great potential, so much so that we feel we can push these elements to the next level if we spend some extra time working on them," said CEO Dan Connors in a statement. "It is because of this that we are delaying Jurassic Park: The Game on PC to ensure PC players get the best possible gaming experience."

One positive consequence of the move is all platforms will end up receiving at least the first episode simultaneously, ala Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network (which we expect should be up then).

    Zing, right? Sigh. Okay, sorry.

No dinosaur fighting until after the summer. Bummer.
No dinosaur fighting until after the summer. Bummer.

"We regret any disappointment on the part of our fans but we are confident you’ll be pleased with our decision when the game comes out," said Connors. "This has been a hard choice for us, but it is the right decision."

To help make things right, Telltale is offering full refunds to its customers and a free Telltale game of their choice. Refunds, plus details on redeeming said free game, should be arrive via email this week.

I just wanted some more Jurassic Park, man. Back to putting the John Williams soundtrack on loop.

Back to the Future is kind of a big deal to me, so when I found out that I wasn't at all interested in Telltale's game version, I decided that Telltale games just weren't for me.

With Star Wars going the way of the dinosaurs, it's somewhat appropriate if Jurassic Park were to go the way of Star Wars.

As others have mentioned, this was probably necessary - especially considering that quick look. Those quick time events were just too janky.

For those unsure what to do with your free token, might I suggest Puzzle Agent? That game was pretty amazing. What with PA2 coming this summer, I hope that we get a review of it from GB. The first was a bit unprecedented, a complete unknown. Now that it's proven (at least to me) to be an amazingly vivid world with great voice acting and crazy mysticism, I want to see a bit more coverage of it across the board. Having played only a few adventure games in my day, I would be extremely happy to see the Puzzle Agent series become the Adventure Island of our day.

I think this is good for the game to be honest. During the quicklook roadshow, I noticed that the transitions between button presses and scene fluidity was a bit janky. That might be a small complaint to some, but for a game which they're touting as like Heavy Rain, you might want to get that tightened up.

Oh c'mon, drop the zinging. Telltale's a small company aiming for a niche audience and clearly filled by people who do their thing because they dig it. Considering the sales they have, it's really generous to offer something in return for the delay.

And I think they're brave to make it, clearly JP is a game with which they're taking a larger step to new direction. After witnessing lately how a publisher pressuring the developer *coughdragonage2cough* can affect the final product, we should feel good about this as gamers. I tip my hat to Telltale and hope they can make they game they want to.

Well that sucks. I was really looking forward to the game. I'm curious to know how much of that whole "to make the PC one better" crap was real, and how much of it was they just wanted to hold it back for the console gamers. Can't have PC getting a game first after all!

At least they are doing good by the customers any way. Well, better then most companies would have treated it. I never got around to buying it so sadly I miss out on the free game, but I honestly don't think there is another tell tale game that interests me anyway.

Buy Poker Night. It's probably the funniest game I've ever played, plus free TF2 items!

I truthfully still have to watch Jurassic Park in full to be able to judge whether it even needs a video game adaption or not...

Personally, I just wonder why they waited until today, less than a week before April is over, to announce the push back. Did they really just realize now that the game needed to be pushed back several months? I'm not  necessarily saying that shenanigans are afoot, but I am curious about why they waited this late to announce this, let alone when they actually made the decision and handed it off to the PR guys.

Anyway... Why's Telltale suddenly working on so many projects at once? I wonder if that is factoring into this decision.

Judging by the look of the game last time I saw it, this seems like a really good idea.  I'm happy the company has the intergrity to see that they're not proud of the game in its current state and want to wait to put it out.

Telltale have never done that and I doubt they will with any of their future releases..  Gameplay videos of the game has made it look quite janky and they've been receiving a lot of complaints about it.  I'm guessing they really did just want to clean it up before releasing it.

That said, I think a lot of people are ignoring the fact that this is a $30 downloadable game by a small development team.  If you go over and read the comments on somewhere like Gametrailers, people seem to be expecting something that looks like Crysis 2.
