Originally announced in October 2013, Terraria 2 began development in February 2012. So far, the only known programmer involved with Terraria 2 is Andrew "Redigit" Spinks, who began work on the project after leaving Terraria development to the rest of Re-Logic. A few months after the announcement of the game, Spinks would return to Terraria to help finalize the 1.3 updates, and then turn his attention to Terraria: Otherworld, hoping to finalize the game. No release date for Terraria 2 was ever stated, and the game has not been referenced in any official capacity since 2014.
Few details were given about the game, outside of vague goals for the sequel, such as Spinks wanting it to have "infinite worlds" and more biome diversity.
