Hey! I've come to join and assist in the GB server fun. I've been on a few times, character name Felicity, for ease of identifcation (i didn't know i'd be playing multiplayer servers when i started the game), i'm transferring all my stuff to a new character i've called King wiL, for obvious reasons. I've almost finished my first solo map, so i'm up for spending time creating cool shit and helping others create cool shit :D
A new map has been generated so that all the awesome stuff in the new update actually works. I'm currently working on getting a map of the old server that is integrated with the google maps api. Hopefully I can post it here when it's done.
@Shadowsquire: There seems to be some weirdness with the anti-hacking detection. Got booted off just for mining a couple of dirt blocks I used to temporarily block a door during a blood moon.
Big shout-out to @RGHamburger: for helping me build my amazing new home, and especially the giant glass dome that surrounds it.
It isn't a big extravant house itself, but it took a lot of time to get to where it is. There's about 3 squares of space between the top of the dome (barely visible in the pic) and the ceiling of the world.
Griefer(s) struck again. Not sure what all they tore up.
I found it this way on Friday 7/1 at 11pm EST. If anyone can remember the last time they logged in near that time that it looked normal, we could get a timeframe.

Wow, That bomb looks eerily familiar. It appears that you took the bomb I made in the old server and lengthened out the fuse and the mouth a little bit and then added the wording to it.
Taking someone else's work and calling it your own is not cool, bro. I would've had no problem with you adding something onto my bomb, but at least acknowledge someone else's work.

Okay, so I'm quite new to this (and never played minecraft) and I am having copious amounts of fun in single player. I have read through this entire thread and, while the lameos ruining everyone's fun is a slight deterrent, I am still curious about the multiplayer.
So my question to all of your 'seasoned' Terrarians is: When is an appropriate time to make the leap to multiplayer? Is there any gauge of readiness?
@MyaSharona: It's exactly the same as the singleplayer, only with slightly increased spawns.
I say just jump straight into the server. It's mostly us just building cool things and we have loads of resources around, and people have been more than happy to help or give advice on the game.
Aishan's right. Nothing to hold you back. The only thing I'd say you should be aware of if you want to preserve a "pure" experience is that there's no shortage of tempting items in the donation chests and such that would otherwise take you potentially hours to find on your own.
So when are people usually on this server? I joined earlier and it was empty. I guess the game's not exactly new anymore, but maybe there's a time that people are generally in there?
@JJWeatherman: It's never been particularly busy, most I've seen online is four of five people. I only rarely log on myself now and only to see if anyone has built anything awesome.
I guess people, myself included, have just gotten a little bored / distracted and haven't been playing much. People will probably come back, at least for a while, once 1.0.6 drops.
@JJWeatherman: @Aishan: Yeah I've been really distracted with work lately. I got a full time job for the summer and haven't had much time for playing games. I log on every once in a while to add people to the whitelist and check for greifs, but other than that not much. Hopefully come September (and school) I'll have more time for playing

It was a great value during the Steam sale at just $2.50, but I think it's still worth the $10 if you like digging, building and just more free-form games. Also, if you have others to play with, I imagine that would make things quite a bit more fun.

Sure, I can't get it for 4ish days though, Paypal takes forever to transfer money. It has taken me 14 days before here in Canada. It should be done transferring on the 18th though.

OK. Fair warning though, I still have no idea how to actually play this game. I just build giant letters and screw around.
Gonna try to join you guys. Or whoever is still playing. I realize I'm late to the party but I just picked it up yesterday and I wanna see what multiplayer is like on a competent server.
It might help to try to arrange some meetups ahead of time on the boards, or hang out in the server for a while. If everyone's like me, they log in, look around a little, then leave when noone else shows. We could all be missing each other that way, even by minutes.

@Vigil80: @JJWeatherman: What would you guys think if I hosted a Ventrillo or a TeamSpeak server for everyone? That way you could just chill in the chatroom, and when someone comes online you can start up the game? It could also possibly help me out if we ever get a griefer again.
Edit: Because there should be tons of people on this server. I just added 6 more people to the whitelist

Haven't played in a while. This new update looks pretty awesome. After reading the maker's website, they've said that they are now working on a major content patch. I think I'll wait for that and then jump back in.
Well, like the server, this forum is dead. Talking of the server(s), are they both down? I can't connect to them at all but I can connect to other servers perfectly fine.
Plus, I enjoyed that one time that I was playing with someone else on the server (for like ten minutes).
Don't know about the server status. I admit I haven't tried to connect in a while.
But, every game has an ebb and flow. There's only so much time in a day, after all. Between the Minecraft updates and the new holiday releases, things are bound to slow down. But when the next content update hits, I'd bet there will be a surge again.
