What is up with the lava?

#1 Posted by TEHMAXXORZ (1199 posts) -

Every time I get a bucket of lava (or magma) and then place it in a large vat I created out of stone it just disappears. There is no wall (e.g. dirt, brick wall, wood wall etc.) behind the vat and there are multiple ares that have large vats filled with lava on the server I play on.
I  just can't get it to work.

Does the same thing happen when you have a wall behind the vat?
