Well, are you? Based on your own metric, of course.

#3 Posted by Dagbiker (6939 posts) -

I dont think so, but I know others would.

#4 Posted by NlGHTCRAWLER (1215 posts) -

YES.

#5 Posted by ZeForgotten (10397 posts) -

Good life, great job, awesome friends and family.
That's good enough for me so in my opinion no. Others might see that as being a loser but that's fine by me because I stopped caring about what random nobodies think a long time ago.
What's the reason you didn't wanna give an answer? :o

Absolutely.

I've made over 4000 posts in less than 18 months. What do you think?

#8 Posted by Jimi (1126 posts) -

Yep

#9 Edited by believer258 (11565 posts) -

Well, I do lose sometimes, but when I do, I brush it off and try it again.

...oh, you mean socially? Well, no, I don't think of myself that way. Sounds like a great way to travel down the road of depression, something I have no interest in getting near. Are there those that probably do think of me that way? Well, since I'm a video-game playing, anime-watching, geek/nerd/whatever whose social life isn't what you'd call enviable, then yeah, probably. But fuck those guys, I don't care one bit about them.

(And one quick note on a smaller, quieter social circle than most - I like it that way. I'm an introvert, through and through.)

Oh no, I don't mind answering. No friends; no ambitions; no skills; I'm not satisfied with life and my only real passion is video games, so I say yes.

Based on your own metric or definition of the word, so not just socially. Whatever "loser" means to you, I suppose.

As long as you enjoy it then it's not a huge deal.
One day you'll do what everyone ends up doing anyway, develop skills, get friends and all that jazz. Unless you were just told you only have one month left to live then there's really no rush.

And video games, if all else fails just be a "Pro-gamer" and start earning money that way :P

Minimum wage part time job, 4 years in community college and still one away from graduating, no girlfriend, live with parents, 21. Yes I would have to say I am.. I am going to go play Skyward Sword and hope that Fi's dancing eases the pain away. Dance your tiny little armless heart out Fi...

#19 Posted by S0ndor (2715 posts) -

Nah. I'm a terminal under-achiever, but I'm satisfied enough. I have a number of very close friends, and I have an above average salary to look forward to once I finish college. You won't see me making any headlines or changing the world, but I'll be just fine.

I greatly admire people who have boundless ambition and energy, but I'm not of them.

Manlet, can't squat 2x body weight, I've stalled on my OHP (again), porn/masturbation addiction...I voted yes.

But I am blue eyed master race, so I've got that going for me.

OK, let's have Google bring up all the different definitions of the word "Lose" and see which of them I do:

Be deprived of or cease to have or retain (something)
- I've lost my appetite
- Linda was very upset about losing her job
- the company may find itself losing customers to cheaper rivals

I've ceased to have or retain something. Check.

Cause (someone) to fail to gain or retain (something)
- you lost me my appointment at the university

I'm sure I must have caused someone to fail to gain something in the past, sure. Check.

Be deprived of (a close relative or friend) through their death or as a result of the breaking off of a relationship
- she lost her husband in the fire

I've lost close relatives before. Check.

(of a pregnant woman) Miscarry (a baby) or suffer the death of (a baby) during childbirth

I've never suffered the death of a baby. Nope

Be destroyed or killed, esp. through accident or as a result of military action
- a fishing disaster in which 19 local men were lost

I haven't been killed in an accident or through military action. Yet (touchwood). Nope.

Decrease in (body weight); undergo a reduction of (a specified amount of weight)
- she couldn't eat and began to lose weight

I've lost weight. Check.

Waste or fail to take advantage of (time or an opportunity)
- they lost every chance to score in the first inning
- he lost no time in attacking his opponent's tax proposals

There are so many things I've failed to take advantage of. Check.

(of a watch or clock) Become slow by (a specified amount of time)
- this clock will neither gain nor lose a second

I am not a clock.

Lose control of one's temper or emotions
- in the end I completely lost it—I was screaming at them

I am a perfect tempered individual who has never lost control over my temper. I am also a liar. Check.

Become unable to find (something or someone)
- I've lost the car keys

Story of my life. Check.

Cease or become unable to follow (the right route)
- the clouds came down, and we lost the path

Sure, this must have happened at some point in my life. Check.

Evade or shake off (a pursuer)
- he came after me waving his revolver, but I easily lost him

Same for this. Must have happened. Check.

Get rid of (an undesirable person or thing)
- lose that creep!

Check.

Cause (someone) to be unable to follow an argument or explanation
- sorry, Tim, you've lost me there

Check.

Be or become deeply absorbed in (something)
- he had been lost in thought

Check.

Fail to win (a game or contest)
- the Bears lost the final game of the series
- they lost by one vote
- the losing side

Double Check.

Cause (someone) to fail to win (a game or contest)
- that shot lost him the championship

Check

Earn less (money) than one is spending or has spent
- the paper is losing $500,000 a month
- he lost heavily on box-office flops

Check.

So, let's recap. I have been victim of fifteen out of the eighteen definitions of "lose". I'd say that makes me a pretty big loser.

Also, I'm pretty sure spending this much time on a dumb joke on an internet forum makes me loser too.

I see a loser as someone who does nothing to improve themselves or their situation. Drug addicts/alcoholics and the like. So no, I'm not a loser by my own definition of the word.

A few months away from turning 26 and I'm: still living at home with my dad, working a dead end minimum wage job, zero ambition to do anything with my life, zero idea what I want to do with my life even if I could find the motivation, I have never had friends or a girl friend, and I'm extremely over weight. I can not caps lock YES hard enough to express how much I am.

This is pretty much me

I don't mind though, sometimes I wish I had some RL friends. Though I get comfort knowing I could die any any moment, and none of that would matter anyway.

That's a pretty good quote.

Got a degree and a decent job. Got a popular flash game series that has small following. Got a few friends, but not a social person so that's fine by me. I get bummed out sometimes about not having a gf and finding it difficult learning to drive. So there you go, strengths and weaknesses just like everyone else.

Meh, not too sure about the strengths part (in that not everyone has them).

#36 Posted by Hockeymask27 (3683 posts) -

kind of...

#37 Posted by RPGee (759 posts) -

What a horrible potential for self-deprecation.

I would have to answer no. I'm happy with my job, happy with how university is going, fine with my social life (it's slow, but I'm an introvert and have always been fine with a slow social life), met a bunch of new people I like and who like me, one of them being a girl who said yes to a date, happy with the state of my family, and all around satisfies with my life's trajectory right now. Sure, I don't have the greatest sense of what direction it'll ultimately take, but it'll be fun all the way.

Love yourself, everybody, you're all wonderful people, at least for yourselves.

Just being able to survive from day to day without giving up is a strength dude. As long as you do can do that your not a loser.

The only judgement that can hurt you is how you judge yourself. If you spend your whole life playing video games and accomplishing little else, what does it matter really?

I tend to think that a lose is someone that is socially inept against their will. I'm antisocial by choice, and still somehow know way more people than I want to. So no, I don't see myself as one, and I'd actually be surprised if I was viewed as one. But at the same time, I really wouldn't mind being a "loser".
