Most european countries have tax of somewhere between 20 and 25%. If you're in one of higher rate countries, it adds more than €0.90 onto that price. So you end up with it being €4.60. And it probably makes sense to round that up to the nearest whole euro, so €5 it is.
Depending on what European country you're in, that price isn't as bad as it sounds. $5 is about €3.70.

Had expected more of a consumer friendly approach from an indie and not the regular price discrimination that us EUropeans suffer on most steam titles.
@AlexW00d: Yes, the soundtrack is great. I'm assuming this is the same everywhere, but you can pick it up on Steam either by itself or with the game and save a bit of money if you're planning to buy the game.
