I'm a little disappointed that TBOI didn't stick in the heads of the giant bomb crew. It turned me on the Rougelike style of gameplay and had a incredible amount of content for its price. Enigmatic and strange as it was; I at least would have like to see an honorable mention.
The Binding of Isaac
Game » consists of 4 releases. Released Sep 28, 2011
A twisted twin-stick shooter from one of the designers of Super Meat Boy. Players take control of Isaac, a young boy who delves deep into the dungeons of his basement as he is hunted by his deranged mother.
No love for Binding of Isaac this year.
<3 The Binding of Isaac.
I think it's great if you like things that are crazy, disturbing and twisted.
As someone who's put almost 40 hours into the game, I can say that it got as much recognition as it deserved, which was some.
It got a decent amount of love, at least compared to the games I've noticed not getting any goddamn love.
It's my GOTY.
It has some qualities I haven't found elsewhere:
- a crazy amount of powerups and features (like making a pact with the devil, with particular benefits each time, in exchange for your lives, which is an awesome idea for a videogame)
- a long longevity
- random generated dungeons
- customization
- deep and thought-provoking yet sparse story (for example the game gets its name of an biblical episode of the same name)

As King, I rule that your statement is objectively wrong. (@kingzetta , don't think about contradicting me. You can only rule on zettas, which I guess means confirming whether Sho is right when he says something is "so zetta slow".)

El Shaddai and Radiant Historia.
El Shaddai while it is pwetty, is also a monotonous and repetitive endevour I feel.
I didn't think so. I really enjoyed it.
Which statement?@Jeust:

I think he feels you are a menace to his royal crown. Do I sense a coup in the making? :p

Are you going to instigate one? Because I have just the music to dispel it.
@kingzetta:
Have you, as a fellow King, forgotten what the word "preemptive" means? I am quite strategic like that.
@kingzetta:
My words were only a preemptive strike in case you did not like it. Oh, and that little remark is an act of aggression against my glorious Kingdom. This counts as a declaration of war.

Quick, let's invade the Moon!

It's definitely my best soundtrack of 2011 even compared to Bastion, kinda sucks it didn't make it in that category, but I burned out on the actual game pretty fast.
Are there particular tracks that you really liked? I ask because I didn't think anything on the soundtrack really stood out, nor did I think it was greater than the sum of its parts or anything. I found it disappointing. The tracks are appropriately dark, quiet "you're underground" music. Then the boss tracks were a little more interesting, but still sorta standard boss music. I remember several of them, but that has more to do with me having played the game for about 80 hours than it does with the music being memorable.
Comparatively, I really liked the vast majority of the tracks from Super Meat Boy, which I guess must've been Danny B giving 110%.
Latest Bombcast, Dave mentions that he's been playing it and really enjoying it. If there was one GB crew member who would support the game, he'd be the guy.
In regards to Jeff complaining about not being able to shoot diagonally and citing that as the main reason to not play the game, I think that's a bit unfair. You can easily use momentum to shoot diagonally, and after playing a bit and getting a hang of the motion, it isn't too hard to get decent precision out of it.
Hey king, you did hear of a thing called "revolution"? Yeah, that can happen! And then I, TheDudeOfGaming, will cease to be TheDudeOfGaming, and become TheKingOfGaming!@Jeust:

Initially I bought it to get another Steam game/coupon/coal when it was less than a buck and I wasn't that interested in the game itself. Surprisingly enough It turned out to be great, but I can see why some people wouldn't like it... it's frustrating at times, because most of it depends on luck (well, let's say a lot).
As someone who has sank 33 hours into the game now and absolutely HATED the fact you could not shoot diagonally at first it all makes sense the more time you spend with the game. Everything is just designed that way. (most) enemies can't shoot diagonally either and if you could it'd be freaking overpowered to be honest and the entire game would have to be reworked completely to balance everything... and at that point it just wouldn't even feel like the same game.In regards to Jeff complaining about not being able to shoot diagonally and citing that as the main reason to not play the game, I think that's a bit unfair. Simply put you never feel like not being able to shoot diagonal is a problem because all the enemies are designed assuming you can't, so it works just fine.

You say those things as though I am not planned for such an event. Although my people have no reason to revolt, I am always prepared for just such an occasion. (I can't tell you how, as I am not one to spoil surprises.)
