On his 21st birthday, Jackie Estacado gets possessed by an entity known as The Darkness. After getting into trouble with the Mafia, Jackie finds himself on the run, trying to protect the people most important to him.
What was your favorite thing about the game?
The story in general.
I also liked little details in the game, such as Jackie extending his arm around cover he is ducking behind.
Yeah, this game has one of the best story line/plot that I have ever played. I will never get rid of this game.
"Dood, you seriously have a hard-on for The Darkness. The favorite part of the game, is for people who have finished the game. This doesn't need spoiler alerts if you have finished it.And you seriously need to start putting up some fucking spoiler tags when you put topics up."
"Dood, you seriously have a hard-on for The Darkness. There's no real spoilers there anyways. Oh, the end with the lighthouse? RUINED THE GAAAAME! :PAnd you seriously need to start putting up some fucking spoiler tags when you put topics up."
"jakob187 said:You don't need spoiler tags in a game's forum discussing (obviously) story and gameplay elements from the whole game. Don't listen to him."Dood, you seriously have a hard-on for The Darkness. The favorite part of the game, is for people who have finished the game. This doesn't need spoiler alerts if you have finished it.And you seriously need to start putting up some fucking spoiler tags when you put topics up."And I love the darkness. Best game ever, in my opinion, anyway."
My favorite part (non-gameplay) was the whole being corrupted thing. From a story standpoint. That was well done, I thought.

I know, I'm asking what you didn't like about the last part. I know I didn't really reveal anything.
"I know, I'm asking what you didn't like about the last part. I know I didn't really reveal anything."Oh, I loved the final moments of the game, really cinematic.
@Jayge Ooooooh, I get it now.
"That's kinda what I liked about the story. You both liked the main character and hated where you were going at the same time. So you play to try to help him, while hating him more and more. It's interesting.I still hate the darkness though, fun to play as though, I just hate it in general, and how it wouldn't let Jackie do anything to help jenny."
"Dood, you seriously have a hard-on for The Darkness.that's not even a spoiler, you want a spoiler? Jenny (Jackie's girlfriend) get's killed, how about that moron. seriously, you're fucking annoying. And you seriously need to start putting up some fucking spoiler tags when you put topics up."
WOW! Maybe I should point out that my comment on here said topicS up. This isn't the first topic, and he's spilt spoilers on the others. Meanwhile, you guys want to complain about me at least trying to be courteous for other people that might venture into the thread. SOOOOOOOOORRRRYYYYY!!! = P
I'm a she, not a he. Just clarifying.
"I'm a she, not a he. Just clarifying.Sorry for the gender mistake. lol Hard to tell through all these wires. Name should've given it away, though. And yeah, the SWAT guys were in the city hall subway tunnels. That was a good part."
I had rented it just to check it out because I dug the comics and because Starbreeze is the shit. I just rented it because I had seen that it had some fairly easy achievements, and I was hardcore achievement whoring for a couple weeks. The game definitely had a laundry basket of problems, but it made up for it all in story...and well-written, well-implemented story at that. Now that you can find it in pretty much any bargain bin at Wal-Mart (at least you can here) or elsewhere for about $15-$20, it's a good time to pick it up for those that didn't check it out the first time around. It doesn't have the greatest shooting mechanics ever (far from it in many cases), but it's definitely something to play for the story.
I had a very hard time finding it in a store, since it is rather old and they don't stock them a lot anymore. I had to order it off eBay.
My only complain about The Darkness is the online. Even though I bought it only for the single player, I wanted to try the online... it was by far the worst online game I have ever played, it was laggy as fuck, it got to the point that the game became unplayable online for me, it was just terrible.
I don't have LIVE right now, I was going to buy it for this game, but I don't think I will buy it right away, I will save for 13 months or membership. I'd only play online for the easy achievements.
I really loved the story in general and how when you talked to people you'd have different dialouge options. I also liked when Jenny gets killed... well... I mean I hated it, but it was done really well. And I probably enjoyed the part were the SWAT team comes in to kill you, (where you have the chance to destroy the chopper with the black-hole).
My main gripes with the game though are not having a map. (I got lost, like, a million times!) and probably the ending. *Spoiler! even though this topic is totally going to contain spoilers anyway!* - I hated not being able to choose whether or not I let the Darkness consume me and take revenge. I wanted to be able to choose to walk away, and be the better man. But alas... I had to shoot the bastard.
"I don't have LIVE right now, I was going to buy it for this game, but I don't think I will buy it right away, I will save for 13 months or membership. I'd only play online for the easy achievements."It's not worth it, believe me, The Darkness online is unplayable, I tried to get some of the achievemtns as well but it's seriously not worth the time, the game is laggy as hell.
I don't know if I can pick one favorite thing. It all amazed me quite a bit. I really loved how much the characters came to life. The gameplay was cool, the city design was very well done. Superb voice acting. The story was great as well.
The mood and atmosphere of the game , it was totally believable
May favorite scene was Jenny’s execution , that was touching man , at that moment the controller fell of my hands !!!!
"The story in general. I also liked little details in the game, such as Jackie extending his arm around cover he is ducking behind."^ This exactly. Starbreeze are pretty much experts when it comes to making a great storyline and adding numerous little details that make the game that much better.
