I have it for PC.
I've stopped and started this game at least 5 times. I always either lose interest early on or inject so many mods into it that it crashes after a few minutes of play. I've gotten as far as the point where you SPOILERS read the first letter of each paragraph of those books and find the area in the graveyard.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Game » consists of 31 releases. Released Mar 20, 2006
Travel the continent of Tamriel, defend the land against Oblivion's Daedra hordes, and help fill the empty throne of Cyrodiil in the fourth installment of the Elder Scrolls series.
I can't (BUT WANT TO) get into Oblivion.
im like that too. oh well, i was pretty addicted to it 2 years ago, at least i got my moneys worth back then.
This thread comes just as I was going to buy Oblivion...
I CANT FIGURE IT OUT!! SOME PEOPLE CALL IT THE BEST GAME EVER AND OTHERS CALL IT SHIT! INFORMATION OVERLOAD11111
On a more serious tone, I think I might give it a try on my friend's PS3 first. I have a really short attention span, unfortunately.
Well, it's mostly the crashing that has kept me from playing too far. I just get crazy with the mods. I just reinstalled it for like the billionth time and will NOT mod it at all. I just want to experience vanilla Oblivion, unmodded.
HOWEVER, some of [my not making it very far] has to do with the fact that I just get the impression that there isn't much more to do than raid dungeons for worthless loot and fight wonky battle controls.
TELL ME THERE'S MORE TO IT THAN THIS!
Also, killing spree might be a good idea.
one of the very few games i SOLD.... it's not a bad game, but it's too freaking depressing. i've never played a more depressing game... it just didn't bring any kind of joy

PC version>360 version>PS3 version
I liked the game, but after beating all the guilds, and the game. I got bored with it. But now I'm trying to replay it for Shivering Isles which I haven't played yet.
The PS3 version has better graphics, faster load times, and The Knights of The Nine add-on.... I don't know why people think the 360 version is better....
but whatever, that's not important. The point is this, if you aren't into it, you either need more missions, or the game just doesn't click with you. Nothing you can do about it.

Unless the idea of going into and shutting 16 identical planes of Oblivion sounds fun to you.

"The PS3 version has better graphics, faster load times, and The Knights of The Nine add-on.... I don't know why people think the 360 version is better....its the content I'm talking about. We got Shivering Isles very late. And we have none of the plugins available to both the PC or the 360. That's why I said it was better.

"Whoa, whoa, I thought the PS3 version had the better graphics. Is there something wrong with the PS3 version? The PS3 version has expansions with it, and 360 has more DLC.

I've never heard it called Depressing before! What part of it is depressing? what aspect? you mean like "Graveyard of the Fireflies" depressing or just boring or something?

the ps3 version has the knights of the nine expansion. the 360 has that, the rest, and the shivering isles expansion.
I almost bought this game again to get the GOTY edition for the PS3. But by that point I had already played through it and all the expansions and significant additions on my 360. At one point I even used info from www.uesp.net to squeeze out every last quest I could from the game so I well and truly out played it. Even so every once in a while I get the urge to play it again.
"The game is horrible."This.
I bought it because of the hype. Long story short, returned it three days later.
"True. Morrowind is light years beyond Oblivion in terms of what an RPG is.I totally agree. Oblivion is incredibly shallow.
"
I never got into the game until I put the difficulty ALL the way down in the options and could kill anything that came in my way with one slash. That's when the game got interesting for me.
I agree though, the game is a marvel, but not really fun to play that long imo :|
i had this same problem a while ago.. when i had it on the pc. Then i got it for the PS3.. and just sat down one day and got into it, i didnt touch the main quest i just did the side quests,/ guild missions. I've made it to level 30 twice, then the ps3 screwed up my save so it crashes every time i try to load it. its very irritating. This is the reason the 360 version is considered superior, since it has a lot less bugs.
I've got both Oblivion and Fallout 3 (for the PS3) sitting on my shelf, but I can't start either of them. I don't know what it is. Maybe there's something about their size and non-linearity that scares me.
Im easily immersed in games that provide large open gorgeous world to explore where you can do anything you want. I at first had the 360 version and played the heck out of it. I just bought the PC version and its by far the superior version. No annoying loading, less glichiness because of unofficial patches, much better graphics, a million mods.
