What genre do you guys think deserves the big open-world action-RPG treatment? There's so much to explore in so many places. Where would you guys like to go?
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Game » consists of 31 releases. Released Mar 20, 2006
Travel the continent of Tamriel, defend the land against Oblivion's Daedra hordes, and help fill the empty throne of Cyrodiil in the fourth installment of the Elder Scrolls series.
So they've done high fantasy and post-apocalyptic future...
A Pirate adventure rpg type game.
"A Pirate adventure rpg type game.Basically Oblivion minus all of the bugs -and adding more wenches - mand muskets, and swords, and pirate ships, and sea battlesThat would rock"
I like the pirates idea. Especially crewing up and weaponising your pirate ship, then setting sail on the open seas, FPS style.
What about a futuristic dystopian city where totalitarian government controls the world and you're the only one who can do anything about it? You would have to like, move across rooftops, or go into sewers and things, and try to avoid federal agents and cops as you move through the world. You get what I'm trying to say?

I really like both the western and pirate ideas, but my favorite idea/theme is one that is thankfully already being made. Alpha Protocol! Spies! Espionage! Bad Cocktails! Exclamation Points!
"They should make an RPG based on the Mario series. Super Mario RPG. That has a good ring to it."I think Sonic's about due for an RPG.
A Western RPG sounds pretty cool. I'd love to see another Elder Scrolls, actually. A larger world with varied environments would be fantastic, especially with more types of fantasy creatures and a larger sense of scope.
I'd also like to see a steampunk/fantasy RPG. Hoping for the same world as Arcanum is a pipe dream, but something similar to that wouldn't be out of the question. This is actually probably the next logical step for the Elder Scrolls series.
Western sounds good, but a GTA / Saints Row RPG would be pretty cool.
Well, Freedom Force was a superhero RPG. It wasn't open-world and action oriented though. It's an excellent game if you can find it.
"The Luchadeer wanders through the desert in search of his ultimate opponent, but can he defeat... the Bumblebear!?Mexican wrestler trying to make it as a bigshot would be great!!!! But seriously just make Elder Scrolls 5,it's what we want.
"
The problem with Bethesda style games is that they wouldn't work in relatively modern or populated areas. The whole idea of their games is a big open expanse for you to explore. If they were to make one set now, there'd be too much stuff to fit on a disc to make it mildly realistic and the idea of walking anywhere and then exploring like a manhole or something would not work. A wild west themed one would be a good idea, I think, just as long as the dustbowl isn't just an orangey version of the Capital Wasteland.
