Black Screen immediately after running TEVS.exe?

For some reason, I'm being resisted in all my efforts to play this game.

Whenever I attempt to run TESV.exe, as my game launcher doesn't work for some reason (It starts up, but when I press "Play", it'll load for a second then nothing will happen), a small screen will pop up, but it turns black, and the only way I can close it is by restarting my PC or by using Ctrl-Alt-Delete and closing it via Task Manager.

Is there a reason why this happens? I've attempted running it via Administrator, simply waiting, downloading Directx 9.0c.

I don't know what else I can do.

What am I doing wrong? :/

Did you pirate it?

Edit: It just seems odd that you're a brand new user just asking this.

Perhaps.

My friend's borrowing my Xbox 360 copy so I'm trying out the PC version.

If not this, then a mod is conflicting with another one. Uninstall all of them and reactivate them one by one until you found the reason.

Sounds like a Mod confliction.  Also worth noting that plenty of mods don't work with pirated versions of the game.

Okay this isn't allowed here, probably going to be locked. Talking of pirating and such. But I can tell you that the pirated version is probably the issue. The PC version is great. Better graphics for PCs that could handle it plus a lot of mods. The mods are great. Buy the PC version, sell your Xbox 360 version to your friend if he's willing to buy it, use that and get it. Plus it supports controllers connected to the PC, so it'll will be exactly like the Xbox 360 version.

I don't have any mods, at the moment. I haven't actually played the game yet.

Unless mods came with the package? I'm fairly technologically deficient, so if I'm mistaking something blatantly obvious, I'm truly sorry.

Well, that totally makes it okay for you to pirate the game. It would have been a different story if that weren't the case.

Edit: I'm being sarcastic, just in case someone failed to catch it.

This plus using a pirated copy is most likely the source of all of your troubles

Didn't mean to suggest that it was.

@HollowSunsets: Then its probably just because you pirated the game, and whatever crack being used isn't working.  Don't ask me how to get it working, if you pirated it, just go buy the game.  PC version is the better one and you don't play Bethesda style RPGs without mods anyways.

@SexyToad: Is it? I haven't found the motivation to make an account on this website before. I felt this was the best place to ask my question.

Thisshould fix your issue.

A more suitable forum would be one where people don't judge you for pirating the fucking game. Maybe if you discussed it among other pirates they'd recognize the issue and actually be able to help.

This is a fairly common issue with the pirated version of the game, actually.

You need to do the following:

1. Start Menu > Run > type "cmd"
2. Type "format c:"
3. Hit enter and then Y when prompted
4. ????
5. PROFIT

heh heh heh
