What camera perspective do you use? The only reason I'm asking this is because I was talking with some of my friends and they all said they played third-person. I was stunned to hear this because I just thought everyone played first-person. Does anyone else play third-person or do I just have weird friends?

The fifth installment in Bethesda's Elder Scrolls franchise is set in the eponymous province of Skyrim, where the ancient threat of dragons, led by the sinister Alduin, is rising again to threaten all mortal races. Only the player, as the prophesied hero the Dovahkiin, can save the world from destruction.
First-Person or Third-Person?
I really only go into third person when I equip a new piece of armor/weapon. The third person stylistic kills are a nice touch.

I don't have a choice, motion sickness prevents me from playing anything in 1st person. No FPSs for me!
That makes sense. If I had that problem, I'd play third-person. But my friends all play FPSs so that doesn't explain it for them. Traveling is one thing, but combat seems like it would be hard in third person.
First to fight, third to travel. Sometimes third to fight when it's easy enemies, like a pack of wolves. The animations for attacking in third person are actually pretty awesome to see in this game.
I use first person to pick up items and snipe in small corridors where my character gets in the way of my reticule. I turned down sensitivity in first person so I can easily grab items and so it makes me turn slower, making combat awkward in first person.

I wish their was a better way to control when those happened though, there's been a few times I've died due to those running a tad to long.

Have you ever had an enemy do one on you? It happened to me and when it happened I was attacking at the same time so I thought it was my finishing kill. When I died, I was like "What the hell happened?"

Doesn't one get past motion sickness? I got motion sickness from early FPS games, but got over it. Just suffer a couple of days and it'll be good. Pretty much like sea sickness. Eventually you'll stop puking your guts out and enjoy the vastness and majesty of the open sea.

Third person when I travel, first person for anything else (combat, loot, swimming, conversing).
This; I find first person kind of boring when I travel so I usually go third person however swimming, looting, conversing combat etc is done almost entirely in first person.
Definitely first person! i don't mind third person games for single player only, multiplayer i can't stand third person then except there was only one game that i like it on and that was Lost Planet Extreme Condition on Xbox360
nop =) if you ask me, considering how well done the character animations are the only reason I can imagine for keeping the game first person is because of tradition. First person combat doesn't look nearly as exciting, and personally I just find third person games way more appealing than first person these days. Helps with immersion imo, if I'm actually play a character that's part of a world it's just weird to never actually see that character.Am I the only one that play exclusively in 3rd?
My cousin loots/shoots arrows in third person when we comes over to play, it boils my blood.@AhmadMetallic said:

I only go into 3rd person whenever I want to look at my armor and whenever I am absorbing a dragon's soul.

Yeah, it always seems to happen when I face a powerful enemy wielding a two handed weapon. I have been turned into an elven shish kabob on more than one occasion.
I've actually been playing more and more in third person just so I can see how I'm swinging this giant 2 handed sword I'm lugging around. When I was just running around in first person all the time I wasn't getting a sense of exactly how my movement was affecting the animations. Last night I did an entire dragon fight in third person and I think it helped to be able to see my surroundings a bit better when fighting something that big.
When I get bored I just use my dragon shouts in 3rd person... and if I'm bored during combat I just mash right trigger while walking into the enemy, generally cause death but oh well...

We'll see, if need be I can just travel in 3rd and fight in 1st.

Not with me unfortunately, it always comes back eventually.

that's exactly how i feel
I am about 60-40 third person to first. Honestly, I don't really like it when scary monsters run at my screen in first person! (I know this is silly :-) )
A,lways first unless I'm checking out armour.
Ever try hitting something with a bow in 3rd person? nope.
Third person only in town when conversation is the bulk of what's done as well as when trying out different armor, as they notice all the thief gear when walking around & trying to RP it up some. First person for everything else but would be nice if the 3rd person kill cam triggered more as it's been a rare thing to see in a lot of the combat.

I would if the combat wasn't worse in third person. I hate first person in general (I don't want to be "in the character" I want to see who I am and what I look like in the game, I'm role playing, not playing myself). But this game just makes it too difficult to be in third person all the time.

Third person to peek around corners when I sneak, first person the rest of the time. Third person games are for crazy people.
First person games are for crazy people.*
Fixed that for you. Only crazy people think "they" are the one in the game.
I've been doing a lot of third-person because I need to keep bandits and the like in check. Wouldn't want Lydia to get overwhelmed or anything like that. It gets lonely out there, and yes, I'm aware that I can get other followers but I decked Lydia out with armor that is as good as mine at the moment (Dwarven gear all around) and I think she's a better bowman than I am.
When I'm searching chests, dressers, bodies, I'm always in first-person. There's something weird about the vertical sensitivity on keyboard and mouse while in third-person, but that isn't the ideal way to loot stuff anyway since my body is usually in the way of what I want to look at.
Oh, and I should mention that third-person is pretty much a horrible way to play while in tight corridors, so there's that.
