Guys, seriously, arrow in the knee jokes are getting old.

It was funny the first time 'round but man, it's a meme that's gonna dying faster than a dead baby (dead baby jokes). It hurts every time i read people comment on Skyrim threads and making the "I used to x like you, but then i took an arrow in the knee." Yes we get it. Haha. Now how bout be more original? How bout say something like "Have you seen the comments on Youtube? They got dumb comments. Dumb. Comments." or something? Common guys. Be creative.

But it still ends up with you sounding like a dumb Skyrim nerd at the end of the day. Anyways, my predictions for the first comment:

"I used to give a fuck like you, but then I took an arrow in the knee"

BRING YOUR WORST YOU INTERNET S.O.B.s IM NOT AFRAID OF YOU!!!

I don't get it. What does this have to do with Skyrim? Not being a dick, I seriously don't know.

#3 Posted by GreggD (3324 posts) - 1 year, 5 months ago

I've never heard this stupid, stupid meme. So I guess that's plus one for me?

#4 Posted by JasonR86 (7728 posts) - 1 year, 5 months ago

I've never heard of this.

#5 Posted by sagesebas (2001 posts) - 1 year, 5 months ago

@TheKramer89: A bunch of the guards say I used to be an adventure like you then I took an arrow to the knee

#6 Posted by DarkShaper (1144 posts) - 1 year, 5 months ago

I have seen it a few times but I also have no idea what the context is.

#7 Edited by BabyChooChoo (3579 posts) - 1 year, 5 months ago

I find that some memes start funny, but eventually get annoying and old.

This particular meme became the latter in record breaking time.

Apparently one of characters apparently says something along the lines of "I used to adventure like you, but then I took an arrow in the knee." I either haven't met this character or just ignored it as a throw away line. For some reason it stuck for people and now it's internet famous.

go on ign for 5 seconds. then come back here and sob for the fate of humanity.

#10 Posted by adoggz (1878 posts) - 1 year, 5 months ago

I think its some reddit bullshit.

oh and i have to

arrow in the knee jokes used to be (un)funny like you, but then it took an arrow in the knee.

#11 Posted by Animasta (12772 posts) - 1 year, 5 months ago

I used to make good jokes until I got an arrow in the knee?

seriously though, it's pretty bad, though it's not as bad as "I saw a mudcrab the other day" and probably not as bad as "patrolling the mojave almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter" but nerds love repeating shit over and over again to the point where it's not funny; I'm a wizard jokes were sort of funny a couple days after that bombcast, for example.

Oh, gotcha. I've heard the guards say that a few times. Didn't really bother me.

Whenever I want to make my friends cry, i say "I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than you!" Works every time...

Amen and let's hope this is the last best arrow in the knee joke. Ughhh.

I too wondered where this meme came from. I've not heard/seen it used that much, so maybe I'm just lucky? The last meme to really grate on my nerves was the "The cake is a lie" meme. Seriously, people are actually spouting this, and it annoys the heck out of me each time I hear it. It was never funny to me, so I don't see the charm in it. =/

#18 Posted by TaliciaDragonsong (8670 posts) - 1 year, 5 months ago

Ignore it, it'll pass.

That, or it'll take an arrow to the knee, etc.

#19 Posted by benpicko (1508 posts) - 1 year, 5 months ago

I used to think this way just like you. Then I took an arrow in the knee.

Let me guess... Someone stole your sweet roll.

#21 Posted by PeasantAbuse (4777 posts) - 1 year, 5 months ago

You look like someone who's comfortable in heavy armor.

#22 Posted by wewantsthering (1295 posts) - 1 year, 5 months ago

It's even worse when people write these types of comments on random stuff like Engadget news articles...

We get enough of this in the actual game, it's getting old fast. It's not even a decent quote, either.

Your mom is getting old.

I used to guess like you, then I took a sweetroll to the knee.
#28 Posted by MikeGosot (3227 posts) - 1 year, 5 months ago

I used to be an adventurer like you, but then Skyrim glitched and corrupted my save.

But seriously, what bothers me the most is "YOU HAVE COMMITED CRIMES AGAINST THE PEOPLE OF SKYRIM!". Well, seriously? I didn't knew! I mean, i killed that random NPC thinking that it was completely legal. It makes sense that they say this, but to a killer/burglar Khajiit like myself, the same line gets old FAST.

#29 Posted by OtakuGamer (1077 posts) - 1 year, 5 months ago

I used to give a shit what other people said on the internet, then I got a brain.

#30 Posted by Flappy (746 posts) - 1 year, 5 months ago

This thing is all over youtube. If the video is gaming-related, there will be an "arrow in the knee" joke. It's a scary sight, really.

#31 Posted by ZeForgotten (9509 posts) - 1 year, 5 months ago

There used to be a bunch of adventurers around here. Then I started kneecapping them with arrows.

Yeah, the jokes got old like the first 3 days the game was out. People I knew in real life walked around saying it constantly.
Sadly, their brains are pathetic and almost useless so it's gonna end up just like that "cake is a lie" thing from Portal. It's gonna stay with those mindless drones forever

Im sorry but as someone who has actually taken an arrow in the knee I must say that I am very happy about this catching on.
I used to not post much on forums but then I took an arrow in the knee.

#34 Posted by Commisar123 (1760 posts) - 1 year, 5 months ago

I used to be annoyed by it, but then I took an arrow to the knee and I realized how important it is to warn potential adventurers about it.

@FritzDude: I used to make sweet roll jokes like you. Then I took an arrow in the knee.

Yea I personally have no problem with memes because they vanish eventually. btw The cake is a lie, Why so serious?

#36 Posted by bombHills (628 posts) - 1 year, 5 months ago

This thread is about as much fun as an arrow in the knee.

#37 Posted by JackSukeru (5150 posts) - 1 year, 5 months ago

I used to get mad and annoyed over people posting silly memes like you do, actually no I didn't and I never will and I don't understand people who do.

If you spend too much of your time being angry and judging people who are just joking around you'll soon find yourself shooting people down left and right.

With arrows.

#50 Posted by TheHBK (4884 posts) - 1 year, 5 months ago

My friend used this on me the other day on Facebook and i didn't get it. I have been playing since the game was out and pretty sure I heard the "I used to be an adventurer like you" part but didn't bother for the rest, because well, I don't care about you mister guard.

The weird part? My friend hasn't played one bit of Skyrim. This bothers me.
