How many hours will Skyrim consume on your Thanksgiving weekend?

#1 Posted by Krakn3Dfx (2485 posts) -

I currently have 54 hours into the game as of last night, but now I have 4 days off, so I expect that number could easily double as long as my wife doesn't make me help with any cooking. I'd like to possibly beat the main campaign, but I may just keep wandering randomly from one point of interest on the map to the next, clearing out caves and spending half a dozen lockpicks to obtain 6 gold and a pair of Shoddy Leather Gauntlets. In a moment of stupidity, I paid 500 gold for a dog last night, only to have him killed by a dragon 2 minutes later just outside of Marketh.

Any big, elaborate Skyrim Thanksgiving plans? My condolences to those who will be traveling for the holidays and may not have access to the game. That's why I don't talk to family outside of my house anymore. Well, that's not why, but it helps.

#3 Posted by Skytylz (4030 posts) -

Zero,

Let me break down Skyrim for you.

Do you see that DIAMOND on your compass? Just run in the direction of that diamond until you come to somebody and then either click A on them or kill them.

Great game design.

This is the MOST BORING GAME I have played in a long time.

Try League of Legends instead...

Unlike most of the dudes in this thread, for me personally...

A LOT.

#8 Posted by matthias2437 (985 posts) -

I played 75 hours the first week it was out, then I took a week off..... now I am ready again. Probably going to burn through 20-30 hours by next monday.

#9 Posted by Old_Corncob (134 posts) -

@Animasta: It is actually fun.

#10 Posted by Deinos (89 posts) -

Wish I could... have had to put it under lock and key with programming deadlines coming up... and traveling all day to visit family on thurs :(

In a couple of weeks though.... going to barricade the room, and then play until I get every last drop of content out of it, or it red rings my 360 ;-)

#11 Posted by AndrewB (7500 posts) -

Already a good 6 hours at least. Grinding out every side quest I have so far and then going to plow through the main story. I want to save some stuff for after the main quest so I can actually use all the crap I get from it though.

#12 Posted by Addfwyn (1917 posts) -

We don't have Thanksgiving here, and my weekend is already booked with social activities. So probably somewhere between 0-5 hours

#13 Posted by FancySoapsMan (5806 posts) -

It all depends on when the next patch is released and how much it actually fixes.

You people and your long weekends. I have the same weekend as always =P

I even work on thanksgiving

After 100+ hours, I think it's time for a break. I'm going to read a few books.

Probably 20+ hours if I don't get too burned out from lack of sleep. I'd like to try out the new Minecraft release but SKYRIM.

By that, he means he's finally going to read all of the books he's picked up during his journeys in Skyrim.

All of them that won't be turkey eating/family smalltalk.

How do you check all hours played (not just with one character)?

#19 Posted by jlev880 (204 posts) -

@Skytylz: I'm in the same boat as I will not be bringing my computer home from school. So instead I will dig into Assassins Creed Revelations.

I'll probably play a few hours but I'm already on my third character (lost the first one entirely, second one wasn't fun) and getting just a little burned out.

I lied lol, my brother got the game for 360 and I'm rolling a melee character now :P

Probably not much. I'm gonna be working on a script which is my Screenwriting 101 final. Not fun. But hey, I live in Canada so it's a normal weekend. I'm kinda jealous that my mother's goin' to KY for thanksgiving and I'm not though. Haven't seen the US family together in a while.

I'm thinking it's time for a road trip.

All of them. Skyrim will consume all of them. I mean, who needs to eat, right?

Because having people scream at you and berate you is fun. When an integral part of the game is so bad (the community), I find it pretty hard to call the game good, and I'm especially not going to recommend it to others.

Also, fun fact: In LoL you both click on them AND kill them. You do the same thing every match: Kill. Kill creeps, kill towers, kill players. Trying to call one game repetitive and then using LoL as a counter-example was a mistake.

I have a lot of work to do, but every hour that isn't devoted to work/sleep/or eating will be an hour devoted to Skyrim.

Aww, that's mean, I cook a lot. I'm a good husband, take it back!

#27 Posted by spilledmilkfactory (1845 posts) -

#28 Posted by Cornman89 (1579 posts) -

Thinking of rolling a high elf mage. So... way too much.

#29 Posted by Vexxan (4616 posts) -

Hopefully a lot of hours, been slacking this week and watched MLG basically the entire last weekend.

#30 Posted by Jotun (555 posts) -

After I finish cooking and eating thanksgiving dinner: all the hours. All of them

#31 Posted by Kazzurak (366 posts) -

@Krakn3Dfx: i can relate to the dog thingy i thought "im gonna run around a mountian on my next quest im gonna buy a horse!" and so i did 1000 gold spent on that stupid horse but anyways 2 minutes later it was getting attacked by a wolf and i saw its health dropping so i stepped off going to kill the wolf the time it took me to kill the wolf (2 sword swings) and my horse had been raped by 2 vampires :/ i was so pissed that i spent 1000 gold on that damn horse just for it to die to fucking vampires 2 minutes later

Probably not a lot. I'm kind of getting burned out. I have completed the Thieves guild, and the Dark Brotherhood, I'm about a third of the way through the main quest and the mages guild, plus I have done a ton of other stuff, but now that I have seen all the landscapes and towns, ect., the weakness of the game design is starting to show. The game is really repetitive. Run to dungeon, clear out dungeon, get loot at end of dungeon, talk to so and so, quest completed. Even the DB wasn't that great. "Go kill these guys." Meh. I've heard a lot of people say the Thieves guild is the highlight, and if so that kinda sucks. Skyrim is still probably my favorite game this year, and I've put like 40 hours into it, but the quests need a lot of improvement. I don't know if I can bring myself to finish the Mages guild, the Stormcloak/Imperial thing, and the main story if they are going to be more of the same. For now I'll take a break and revisit the game in a week or so.

Haven't gotten my new computer yet because of some fucking heatsink being out of stock. So none.

#34 Edited by mac_n_nina (272 posts) -

Not really sure, but at least 10 hours. I just recently picked up Skyward Sword, Super Mario 3D Land, and Star Fox 64 3D. I have at least 50 hours in Skyrim so far and whenever I feel like I'm getting burned out I just play another game until I get the urge to play Skyrim. It's really hard to play Zelda at the moment since all I really wanna do is play Skyrim, but I don't wanna play it too much and get fed up with it.

#35 Posted by wambam (63 posts) -

Can someone please put out a mod showing Skyrim forests filled with wild turkeys? just for the weekend ? I am in a hunting mood. :)

#36 Posted by Bevinsky (177 posts) -

None whatsoever. Another game with "sky" in the title will be taking up my time.

#37 Posted by Teoball (575 posts) -

After 60 hours of Skyrim I started playing Assasins Creed Revelations. Finished that today so now I'm ready to play through Saints Row 3 with a friend, probably going to start Zelda after that. Then I'll go back to Skyrim.

Seeing it's THE weekend, can you kill someone in Saints 3 with a turkey ?

Zero. I didn't feel the need to ignore the people I love, but never see....or even the ones I merely never see.

League of Legends is a lot of fun when your teammates are not a bunch of collected idiots. Hate to say it, but for some reason MOBA games like League of Legends has the worst community in any game I had the displeasure of being in.

Last night playing Dominion - my "teammate" says "Wow my team is all a bunch of noobs no one is doing anything" and then we won... also he was the worst person on the team going 4/15/3

OT: A LOT, I just started the Thieves Guild quest line and my personal favorite The Dark Brotherhood. Loved it in Oblivion, expecting to be 1000 times better in Skyrim and so far it is not disappointing.
