I was wondering if there was a soul gem large enough for human souls? I have azuras star but apparently that isn't working.

The fifth installment in Bethesda's Elder Scrolls franchise is set in the eponymous province of Skyrim, where the ancient threat of dragons, led by the sinister Alduin, is rising again to threaten all mortal races. Only the player, as the prophesied hero the Dovahkiin, can save the world from destruction.
Human soul gems?
The only soul gems that can trap human souls are Black Soul Gems. Use them against any human enemy and it fills, and it gives an equivalent of a Grand Soul Gem, so it's extremely useful. However, you don't find too many black soul gems in the world, and since they're associated with necromancy and the dark arts, don't expect to find them at shops.
You'll find them lying around different people's lairs on your travels. Just keep your eyes peels when you go through dungeons, there are always plenty of goodies to find just lying out in the open.
@Example1013: I'll tell you this, you find many more black soul gems in Skyrim than you ever did in Oblivion. There are only a handful of specific dungeons in Oblivion where you can find them, most of them quest-related, especially Mage's Guild. In Skyrim, I've actually found them in random loot chests.

You could make your own in Oblivion, though.
@Atlas: I thought it was cool because human souls were all worth the same, and you could use any rank soul gem, so you could turn a bunch of petty gems into basically a bunch of grand gems. By the time I really got into item enchanting on my most used character, though, I already had Azura's Star, was about level 30, and had easily enough gold from a single looting run to buy all the Grands that I wanted, and it was always a hassle to me to get there at a time when the altars were actually functioning.
I'm not sure which choice to make for the Azura quest. The black soul gem always gives a grand soul while the other one it varies. My character is good for the most part so I'm not sure what the right choice is for the way I'm playing.
Does Azura's Star in Skyrim work in the same was as it did in Oblivion? Is it basically a re-useable grand soul gem? Azura's Star was easily the best Daedric artifact, and the fact that the story quest mission where you have to destroy a Daedric artifact recommends you go across the Valus Mountains to Azura's Shrine and bring back the Star to destroy it is bullshit. Much rather destroy the Wabbajack; that shit was funny for like five minutes.
Also, for those who don't know, in Oblivion there were specific Necromancer's Altars around the world, and during certains days of the month you would see a purple light shining down onto the altar. If you put a soul gem into the altar while the light is shining upon it, the soul gem will be transformed into a black soul gem. The event happened like a couple of times a month, and it was fucking awesome.
@mandude: I'd respectfully disagree with the assertion that there are more human enemies in this. There were over 200 dungeons in Oblivion, and shit tons of bandit and marauder hideouts, plus camps, Mythic Dawn assassins in every town, highwaymen and others just in random spots along the roads, etc. etc. etc. Because most people didn't go to a ton of non-quest dungeons in Oblivion, not many would realize it, but there was a lot more to that world than what the quests brought you to. I spent 200 hours in Oblivion and still didn't get to explore every corner.
@TheDudeOfGaming: In the grand scheme of things? No, but does it really hurt to have a conversation on the number of human "spawns" in Skyrim versus Oblivion?
There's a guy that sells black soul gems and also 2 daedra hearts at a time. Getting the Black Star instead of Azura's Star is definitely the best way to go. There are bandits everywhereeeeee, as everyone knows no doubt. Kill one, get grand soul gem, its pretty great.
I like to play more evil and use innocent NPCs to fill my Black Star though. Bandits feel like cheating. My character breaks into your house in the middle of the night, steals your stuff, pickpockets you as you sleep, drinks your blood, then murders you and steals your soul. Now that's evil!
